Two for Tuesday - Indie Press Bookmail

I've already read and loved some of @pruebusseychamberlain work in the form of Bone Horn (which was published by another brilliant indie @cipher_press). So I was very pleased to get hold of Grief is a Thing in Pleather, which is a collection of poetry I hope to read soon. Thanks @osmosispress for sending it my way.

Keshed was on my wishlist for next year (it's out mid February), so was delighted when @ortacpress contacted me asking if I'd like an early copy, thank you! Though I was very honest about the fact I may not be able to squeeze it in before its release date, it's definitely one I'm keen to read. Swipe to see the blurb, I think it will appeal to a lot of you too.

Love an indie press and very much appreciate how well these two go together with their monochrome covers.

What's your favourite indie press?

In a vacant room or
at the bottom of the stairs
I stood still
and opened the windy door

slippery rocks and
my body

tiny fragments of lichen
slowly waking
up on my wrist

M P Pratheesh’s ‘The Burial’ is a collection of 26 little poems which seem to multiply themselves off the page in a stream of ideas and images. Intriguing, beautiful writing.

Whitehaven, no filter. Arrived in mist and strong winds, whipped-up sea, white horses, curtailed my trip to the newly done-up West Pier lighthouse, Fl G 5 s, made it to the old watchtower and the lock, the boatyard and the marina. Read some poems about lighthouse keepers, clinker cobles and crab creels, oystercatchers and petrels; saw a cormorant wings akimbo and a gaggle of redshanks hunkered down and every now and then hopping on the end of a pontoon. Sold a number of books – I have now run out of my limited editions of “Lune” and “Using Language”, aside from one very exclusive package of all four of my titles, which I’ll organise as a special offer at some point, maybe a publication anniversary! We heard about the Eden Arts Whale in Whitehaven project and about and from the new publication by David Gaffney and produced by Briony Hughes and published by Osmosis Press. A good day! #whitehaven #westcumbria #whale #davidgaffney #osmosispress #edenarts
