Day 19: as an above knee amputee, I decided to make hockey even more challenging for myself by wearing skates from 1999. Why? I wanted to see just how much has changed in skate technology since 1999. The answer: a lot!

Day 19: skating on 1990s goalie skates in 2026 is not the best idea. But it was worth a try !

Day 19: this was an interesting day as I decided to put on my Bauer 3000 goalie skates from the late 1990s. These were the skates I wore all the way up to my hiatus in the 2010s. The results….. not great as youll see. Nostalgia isn’t always worth revisiting.

Four months in with the Össur Cheetah Xplore! 🦿

It’s become my go-to prosthetic for everything from everyday activities to high-impact training. Responsive, dynamic, versatile, and ready to move when I am. Whether I’m running, jumping, or just going about my day, this foot continues to impress me!

Tonight’s speech hit different than any I’ve ever given.

I was honored to present my friend @rickypamblanco with a $2,500 grant from the @cafoundation .

Then something unexpected happened.

The representative from @ossur.us offered Ricky a free running leg on the spot.

The Challenged Athletes Foundation exists to give people with physical disabilities access to sport — and sport is what brought every single one of us together. Everyone in that room thought that was the connection. And on the surface, it was.

But underneath every race run, every medal won, and every record broken that CAF has helped a challenged athlete achieve — is heart. That’s what actually connected every person there. And that’s exactly why CAF recognized Ricky. Not just for what he’s lost or what he’s overcome — but for what he carries inside.

Ricky plans to put his grant toward a @roguefitness Echo Bike and rowing machine to help him rebuild after losing his leg in a near-fatal accident last year.

Special thanks to the Challenged Athletes Foundation for the honor of recognizing a man like Ricky.

Day 18: part 3 gave us more pass to shoot drills. By this time of my 4 hour block of various goalie skill building, I felt super focused despite the physical fatigue setting in. I feel so grateful that on this day I was able to share the ice with such greats like @fsawitsky @valerie_loomis_8125 and @thegoaliepad #abovekneeamputee #amputee #amputeehockey #hangerclinic #abovekneeprosthesis

Yesterday's activities and Heroes of Sport event were a fantastic way to kick-off the San Diego Triathlon Challenge (SDTC) fueled by @ToyotaUSA

Today's events include the @Ossur & CAF Running and Mobility Clinic, Adaptive Tennis & Pickleball Open Play, an Adaptive Pool Swim Clinic, and SDTC Registration and Packet Pickup.

Let's go!
