🛠️ Who’s Who in the Hospital: Support Staff 🏥

When you’re in the hospital, you’ll meet more than just doctors and nurses. These support roles are essential to your care:

✔️ Patient Care Tech (PCT) – takes vitals, helps with daily needs
✔️ Transport Associate – safely moves patients to tests, procedures, and back
✔️ Respiratory Therapist – manages oxygen, ventilators, and breathing treatments
✔️ Hospital Security – keeps patients, families, and staff safe around the clock

These team members often don’t get the spotlight, but the hospital couldn’t function without them. Next time you see them, say thank you. 🙏🏾

My home away from home for the last 3 months… Yes 3 months… I’ve been living in a hotel 🏨.. Im born and raised small town Ohio. I own a farm house & 11 acres. Taking the leap of faith to jump start a new pathway for the advancement of respiratory therapy was an easy choice.. I had my emotional highs and lows about leaving my home- but that too eventually eased… I knew nothing about Baltimore, Maryland or where to live. It all happened so fast. I told my husband let’s just live in a hotel until we can figure out our new life… and 3 months later we survived 🙌🏻… Sometimes the best things in life come with small sacrifices.. It’s truly been a amazing experience-even living in a hotel… now I’m ready to move into a house with a oven😬 and to bring my dog over from Ohio.. I’ve missed him ☺️ I am so very thankful for all the support especially from my family. My kids are amazing & my husband has been my rock & my “bodyguard” over here in Baltimore… The support from RTs everywhere, JJ the RT, the AARC, NBRC, my OSU family, the VA ect. Thank you!! And a special thanks to @boxed.fitness.ohio for continuing to push me physically with her daily workouts 💪🏼
The growth of the APRT is slow but mighty. THE Ohio State University MRT program is where it all started- trailblazers-⭕️-H… & Daniel Whitt is the powerhouse that created the first APRT position in the VA. He saw a need throughout Baltimore VA. The lack of pulmonary physicians and the increasing number of veterans with COPD & burnpit exposures who need cardiopulmonary care.
It takes a team to make an impact . We have that team. RT’s, Do not be afraid of the unknown- for the unknown will lead us into greatness. Let’s continue to move forward!!
