STATEMENT OF SOLIDARITY: Offensive Populaire rejects the use of lawsuits by wealthy landlords to silence tenants. @slam.matu , the Montreal Autonomous Tenants Union (SLAM) was hit with an injunction for organizing with neighbours against a rent increase. The injunction acts to restrict the union’s public organizing. That’s why last night our members took the initiative to flyer an Agence Station Bleue event in solidarity. Station Bleue is a talent agency owned by landlords Gabriel Paré and Annick-Patricia Carrière, who have hit their tenants with rent increases and have taken to the courts rather than sit down and negotiate with the union. We stand with SLAM and people organizing despite frivolous lawfare that threatens our ability to organize for better living conditions. The political character of these lawsuits cannot be ignored: they are meant to muzzle political organizing. Not everything is for sale. Wealth can’t manufacture solidarity- and we’ve got lots of that!

Fedayeen Football League ⚽️ September 12 ⚽️ Clinton Park ⚽️ 5 PM ⚽ $10 donation recommended per player Israeli Occupation Forces are now using kites as justification for new airstrikes: killing a 4-year-old, bombing warehouses, and striking tents full of displaced people. The occupation is threatening forced expulsion from any area where children plan to fly kites. Polls show that Netanyahu can’t form a government. Ceasefire talks were progressing. So, they manufacture a crisis around children’s toys to stay in power! A nuclear-armed state is claiming paper kites are a threat!!! In solidarity, we’ll be building and flying kites during next game of Fedayeen Football League. We are fundraising to support athletes, coaches, and youth programs who refuse to let occupation steal their futures. A donation of $10 is recommended per player. 🪁 September 12, 5 PM | Clinton Park

Sport has always been for the people, a joyful expression of connection, competition, and cultural identity. But big corporations and the capitalist system are taking that away from us, turning our games into products to be sold. We are taking football (also known as soccer in the imperial core) back with the launch of Fedayeen Football League- people’s football league. We are saying NO to FIFA, one of the most corrupt organizations in the world. FIFA’s hypocrisy in this World Cup has been jarring. They banned Iran’s national team from entering the US, forcing them to stay in Mexico and disrupting their travel and preparation right before the tournament. They also denied visas to 15 Iranian staff members, making it even harder for them to compete fairly. At the same time, FIFA lets Israel play without any consequences, even as Israel carries out a genocide in Gaza and has murdered at least 810 Palestinian athletes since October 7th, 2023. As Palestinian players face occupation violence and denied visas, we return football to its rightful home: our communities, our streets, Palestine. With the Vancouver Police Department increasing surveillance and brutality around FIFA events, we will be playing away from the regular FIFA games for the sake of our community’s safety. Our first match date will be announced soon. If you would like to play, or have your organization endorse, table or sponsor the league please dm or email us at basilalarajcommittee_cpa@proton.me. We look forward to playing, connecting, and building with all of you, on and off the pitch. 📸: Palestinian children playing football in the ruins of Shatila refugee camp in Lebanon (1988) Visit: https://www.boycottfifa.org

The Barricade Podcast is Now Live! This is a podcast launched by OTD/OP (currently only in English) to highlight stories of working class struggle and develop the political analysis we need to fight and win. The very first episode is focused on neighbourhood organizing and popular power, interviewing Hamna and Steve - two members of Off the Defensive who were involved in organizing our founding conference. They speak about their experience of neighbourhood organizing in Toronto, the lessons they have learned, and how OTD/OP will help us take the fight in our neighbourhoods to the next level. Right now, the episode can be found on apple podcasts and spotify, or directly on the libsyn site. See our bio for links!
