It was on July 19, 2015 at @wen_hogan’s @otgclassic that I got paired in an amazing foursome. It was Lee Elder, the first African American to play in the Masters; legendary supermodel @iambeverlyjohnson; and this precocious and talented young girl @amari_avery. Today, that junior golfer earned her @lpga_tour card, becoming the 9th African American to do so. Amari, huge congrats to you! It was an honor to play with you and see you grow over the years! You become the first Black player to win an @epsontour title in 12 years. And we can’t wait to see you become the first to win on the LPGA. #golfinsistas

#Yaaaoooo dropped a few pars; excellence is our presence... Get it? BIGGIE!! My bruv @Wen_Hogan’s @OTGclassic was nothing short of a “Bogie” lol! First and foremost; s/o rest in green pasture to my big bruv Gary Farmer aka @gary221- GFarm ALWAYS pulled up dressed to the nines representing for the 914!! Back to our regular scheduled program lol! In addition to honoring Jamaal Lesane of @TheGarden ( do your homework); the dress theme was Orange and Skies Knicks vibes. I had the honor and pleasure of choosing the winners of the Best Dressed Female and Male @GolfLgendTedRhodes Swaganair Award!!! * Fun fact; Teddy Rhodes in the mid-twentieth century, a time when African American golfers were a rarity, helped break golf’s color barrier with his personal regal style and grace on and off the course… Rest in green pasture King; thank you!! So here’s our this year’s winners: - Best Dress Female: @Mikothi Miko with her fit by @GreysonClothier ( do your homework on this brand too; bit of a Cinderella story) and her Sun Visor in reminiscent of the inspiring golf style of the great Ann Gregory ( sidebar/main bar: AG is widely recognized as the pioneering first Black woman to compete in a national USGA golf championship, breaking the color barrier at the 1956 U.S. Women’s Open). Then Miko, after her rounds of play switching up to her Hermes slides lol - Best Dress Male: @DavidJGossett Now Dave hailing from Harlem definitely overstood the assignment and certainly delivered by going straight custom @OTGclassic x @nyKnicks inspiring Shortsleeved Polo and Shorts set with Knicks cap. The day overall made the Golf Gods very proud!! #Yaaaoooo nobody can be you; but you… So in the midst of the honoring of @TheGarden’s Jamaal Lesane ( worth doing your homework)!!! Ah humbly; I received recognition from my fam and friend @Wen_Hogan of @OTGclassic, for my little bit of a contribution to the our culture in Fashion and Life-Style with my splash Swaganair to it!! I was gifted a @nyKnicks color way @SunMountainSports x @Club_Life_Golf Golf Bag ( no excuse; now I need to get my sticks together)!! Which is was super high-key a phenomenal bogey!! However; for me?! It was being in one of those rooms; an audience full of folks that look like you. To be given my bouquet from family and to be able to smell them while I’m still here- now that’s a hole in one!! Oh; so the theme was Orange and Blue Skies. I’m so NYC I was on my Knicks Fly/ Yankee Regal vibes- you see the pin stripes lol! The 2026 Original Tee Golf Classic Honoring Jamaal Lesane and the @nyknicks was everything golfing Knicks fans could hope for and more. I have been covering golf for over 20yrs. I have seen the growth of the sport 1st hand. My daughters got me involved. I don’t play as much as I like to but I’m there to cover the major events that benefit my community. Golf has taken me places and opened a lot of doors for me. I need to make this my full time thing.
