it’s like the year 2014/5 and I was working at @bananarepublic and this is right around the time when the first batch of black digital creatives started to close brand deals. We watched the making of icons transition from tumblr into commercial economies but never in scale. I remember seeing @joekenneth_ and @dapperlou in my employee style handbook and geeked. No one understood why I was so hype but it was the first time (ever) seeing relevant back culture and style emerge in corporate/retail space. But most importantly, the social mobility of it all— watching your favorite spoken word artist off YouTube slam videos grace a BR campaign like it was no big deal, was actually a big deal we never got to celebrate at the time. This was the same season this Black Messiah album dropped. They played the entire album at work, on the sales floor at Banana Republic, during business hours. I was confused. How? I remember feeing almost naked, exposed. I was shocked at what was happening before my eyes. A cultural renaissance, literally. There was so much going on at that time. And this sound that D’Angelo cultivated is a Neo-soul sartorial sound marker (word choice intentional, few will get it). We are so fortunate to gain you as an ancestor. pt.5 hat @kinapparel_ hoodie @ototo.us tee @somejazzplaying_ cc @moruf88 pants 1 error 404 pants 2 @poloralphlauren / @ralphlauren I never know which is which tote @shopgogos boots @newbottega @bottegavenetaworld #explorer

..::June 11-14, 2025::.. Back in Jozi 🇿🇦 for @thebal SZN 5 finals. Judging myself for missing the first 4 iterations. The @nba got something special on the continent. Immaculate, 10/10 vibes 🏀👌🏿🔥 Kigali, same time, next summer anyone?
