Ci siamo quasi. 🎬

The opening night was an opportunity to meet the 10 directors in the competition, hear their voices, and discover the stories that will come to life through the short films featured in this edition.

This first gathering immersed us in the festival—amidst stories, ideas, and cinema—officially kicking off this new edition.

Thank you all for participating and sharing this beginning with us.

Now it’s time for the stories to take center stage.
Good luck to all the directors in the competition! 🎬

Today, I joined my first virtual meeting as an Artivism Amplifiers Fellow.

I’m still taking it in.

Out of 343 applications from 63 countries, only 30+ fellows from across the world were selected for this cohort. To be among them representing Kenya together with my comrade @denzel_artivist is both an honour and a reminder of the power of the work we do through art, activism and community storytelling.

For me, art has never been just about performance. It has been a way of questioning power, documenting our realities, carrying community stories and imagining a different world. From Korogocho to spaces beyond, I continue to believe that poetry, music, theatre and storytelling can move people to not only feel, but to act.

This fellowship brings together artists and activists from different parts of the world who are using creativity to respond to the climate crisis and advance climate justice. I’m looking forward to learning, unlearning, sharing, collaborating and building with people whose struggles may look different from mine, but whose vision for a more just world is connected.

Art is not an escape from the struggle. Sometimes, art is how we enter the struggle.

Here’s to amplifying stories, challenging systems and creating art that refuses to be silent.
