On May 16th we’ll be sharing our wide variety of organic vegetable seedlings and flowers. Expect to see all the usuals and some more culturally relevant crops like okra and callalou.

We’ll have a special opportunity for anyone wanting to sign up for a CSA veggie box on the spot 😎

We’ve been asked if we take donations and the answer is YES! There is a much work to do on the Farm that could use your assistance , so we will have a Donation jar on hand.

On this last day of BHM I’m looking back to earlier this month where I had the privilege of speaking at the @ottawablackcreativeshub Artist Showcase. It was an incredible evening and such a gift to witness so many talented artists share their work on stage.

It was also such a cool full circle moment to realise I used to go to cultural and community events as a kid with my mom and now I not only attend them as an adult but I get to take the stage as an artist and community leader.

Making art is hard for anyone but that struggle is magnified when barriers to access exist. I am forever grateful that I get to create art and make my living from it. My younger self would be in absolute awe. I am also grateful that there is a younger generation that gets to grow up to not only see themselves on stage and screen but is supported and encouraged to express and create.

Our current climate has made it so that art and art making feel like a privilege. And it should not be. Art belongs to us all. It belongs not only in the theatres and stadiums but in the alleys, parks, living rooms, dive bars and church basements. Great art should not be limited to those with money and connections and we should fight to make that truth more of a reality every day.

Dear Black artist, we need you. We need your voice. We need your craft. We need your stories. Even the one you think no one will get or relate to. ESPECIALLY that one. I know some days it feels impossible. But impossible things happen every day and you’re STILL HERE. Hold on. Share on. Create on.

BHM may be ending but Black artist and artists are forever. Celebrate and support us all year. Pay us. Book us. Hype us up. Black art has and continues to be the lifeblood of culture. May we continue to honour that legacy through our investment and support.

We had such an amazing time together at the Ottawa Black Creative Hub Showcase.

We were glad to be in the room, to connect, to commune, and to celebrate with so many of our favourite creative artists in the community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, supported, performed, created, and showed up. We’re so grateful to have been part of it.

God bless you all 🤍
