Join us on Oct 30 for an evening hike. As darkness settles over Gatineau Park, we’ll follow Trail 50 beneath the moonlight to the historic Herridge Shelter. Built in the 1880s as a pioneer farmhouse, this rustic refuge has a long (haunted?) history. 👻 The details: 🗓️ Friday, October 30 | 6–9/9:30 pm 📍 P16, Gatineau Park 🥾 10 km round trip | Rated Moderate on AllTrail. Lots of uphill climbs. 🎟️ Free event 🐶 Dogs welcome on the trail, but not in the cabins 🚗 Carpooling encouraged, join our Instagram chat to coordinate (link in bio) ✨ Register via link in bio. What to bring: * Headlamp or flashlight (a must!) * Hiking boots * Foil-wrapped sandwich or dinner of your choice * Candles to light the cabin (no electricity!) * Water * Warm layers, toque and gloves * A bag to pack out all your garbage 🚮 Missing some gear? Check out the Ottawa Gear Library @ottawaogl for free rentals! Come experience the forest after dark and enjoy a cozy, candlelit dinner in a historic cabin. 🌙

To the incredible team of volunteers, this year’s amazing host & friends at @urbanfreshorganics_758 @thee_farmerswife.. to community orgs who supplied tents, water jugs, tables & lights @ottawaogl @producedbyyouth — to friends and family who donated their hands. To our awesome caterers @sulawok @run2patty who brought the EATS, and the not so bitter melon brought by @chigarden2015. To our funders @tigsproutideas @takingitglobal @spcottawa and the facilitation of workshops and fireside chats by the amazing leadership of speakers & workshop guides. And last but certainly not least, to all those who showed up with open hearts to gather together for this special event .. 💌💌 THANK YOU!! 💛🌞🙂‍↕️🥰 pc: @ariellekab 📸

Yesterday’s MEC gear swap was such a good find 🌲 I picked up an 8 piece camping grill set for $20 and ended up discovering so many amazing local groups along the way. Learning about the RA Canoe Camping Club and the Ottawa Outdoor Gear Library made me realize how much is out there in the community that I didn’t even know about. Can’t wait to get outside more this season 🏕️✨ #MEC #GearSwap #OttawaOutdoors #CampingLife #OutdoorCommunity

@cityofottawa staff are proposing a new stream for community projects that divert waste. Great news, right? This answers a call Ecology Ottawa made in a 2024 petition (link in bio!). The problem? As with CEPGP, certain key expenses won’t be eligible—like salaries, rent, and insurance. Looking to act? Swipe through to learn some simple actions to take. #Ottawa #OttCity #OttWaste #ReduceReuse #WasteDiversion

It was a chilly day, but a fun one with the @ottawaogl learn to ski lessons on the #rideauwintertrail. Thanks to all the volunteers involved in this initiative (including our team who groomed the trail on a very cold morning to get a special practice area ready for the group).
