This carousel will save you $5 a day for two weeks, so please pay it forward to @jeremy4pdx, who is seeking $5 to $25 donations to his Portland City Council campaign.

Donation link in my bio @okay_poet.

Jeremy’s platform includes proposals aimed at lowering Portlanders’ costs of housing, utilities, and transportation, so we have greater flexibility in our budgets to dine out at the local restaurants that have helped put Portland on the map as a food city.

In this carousel, you’ll mostly find coffee shops and bars that also sell food. It’s not ideal, health-wise, to only be able to afford breakfast sandwiches & hot dogs, but I’m so grateful to these businesses for making fresh, substantial food available at a good price.

I’ll add that when I moved to Portland in 2016, I was mostly vegan. My diet has changed in accordance with what food I can afford, and I haven’t felt great about compromising on my environmental values.

I was recently approved for SNAP, and at participating farmers markets, Double Up Food Bucks can match SNAP spending dollar-for-dollar for fresh fruits and vegetables. Imagine if all of us had an incentive to eat veg that generous.

KÖLSCH PARTY IS THIS SATURDAY.

You could spend your Saturday doing responsible adult things. Mowing a lawn. Going to a hardware store. Finally dealing with that pile of stuff in the garage.

OR you could drink a bunch of Kölsch out of hilariously skinny glasses while a brass band plays.

We vote for that.

This Saturday, August 22, we’re pouring 11 different Kölsch-style beers from Gigantic, 54-40, Chuckanut, Früh, Hetty Alice, Living Häus, Occidental, Oregon City, Rosenstadt, StormBreaker & Zoiglhaus.

$4 gets you a proper Kölsch stange.
$5 gets you a Kölsch.
Another $5 gets you another Kölsch.
You probably understand the system.

🎺 Festival Brass live 1–6pm
🌭 Kölschtastic sausages from Otto’s
🥨 Pretzels from Nascent
🍺 Glasses of crispy beer all damn day

The type of place that gives Portland its charm 🌭

@ottossausagekitchen is a Portland institution and a gem in the Woodstock neighborhood. Their sidewalk grill is firing every day and they’re serving some incredible sausages, links and hotdogs. The market inside is also full of fun and tasty goods that will keep you coming back for generations.
