⚡ From the classroom to the community.
In Fall 2025, students in SES 2113: Fundamentals of Earth Systems, Energy, and Sustainability completed a solar feasibility study for the Sulphur Veterans Home East Wing.
Using real utility data, site assessments, and industry-standard energy modeling tools, students evaluated a proposed solar energy system capable of generating over 840,000 kWh annually, offsetting approximately 34% of the facility's electricity demand, and reducing annual utility costs by nearly $75,000.
This project demonstrates how SES students gain hands-on experience solving real-world energy challenges while supporting Oklahoma communities.
