Happy PA week! I trained alongside PA students in med school and that was such a cool experience. I learned alongside with them and made amazing friends.

There are over 201,000 PAs in this country now, and healthcare works because of them.

Thank a PA today. we’re all one team!

Tiny coats and big dreams! 🥼✨

This weekend, the OU School of Community Medicine (@ou_scm) at OU-Tulsa welcomed young learners for “Doctor for a Day” — and let’s just say, the future of medicine is lookin' pretty bright!

These rising "doctors" suited up in white coats, explored hands-on activity stations, practiced basic checkups, and met real-life health professionals. We even received a special visit from @heyhornsby during an extra exciting "graduation" ceremony to end the day!

Amid laughter, curiosity, and plenty of smiles across campus, we’re proud to spark an early love for science and medicine at OU-Tulsa! 🩺 ❤️

High school students interested in healthcare 👩‍⚕️🩺 this is for YOU!

Club Scrubs is a hands on, exciting, interactive club through @ou_scm for high school students interested in exploring health careers. Students have the opportunity to hear from OU Tulsa, SCM and local community health care professionals, receive mentoring from our current medical doctor and physician assistant students and participate in new programs, simulations, demonstrations and activities.

Last month, OU-Tulsa @oualliedhealth PT students (@ou_spta) led the club through heart dissections, what it's like to operate a wheelchair through everyday obstacles, and demonstrations of the various ways physical therapists may assist patients throughout different types of rehabilitation.

Club Scrubs meets twice a month and is FREE to join! Visit the link in our bio to register and learn more.

By now, you’ve probably heard that one of my best friends from PA school has a brother living with DMD. What you may not know is that I went to a PA program that trains future PAs and doctors together. We got the opportunity to rotate alongside one another on clerkships and studied late into the night before tests together. As many of us went into different specialties, some chose to pursue careers in pediatrics. One of my dear friends even chose to complete a pediatric neurology fellowship. Many of Chris’ classmates also chose to specialize in pediatric PT. After Eli’s diagnosis, these friends were so helpful in understanding his diagnosis and pointing us in the direction of the best care. This included providers that genuinely care about their patients and the work they are doing.

We were able to get Eli scheduled with the most incredible PT within weeks of our diagnosis. She was the one to initially tell us about TEFRA and urge us to go to our first CureDuchenne conference. In order to obtain TEFRA in OK, one must qualify for our Medicaid Early Interventions program or have a formal psychiatric evaluation (the latter of which can take months to schedule). In OK, kids age out of the EI program when they turn 3. Eli was only a few weeks away from turning 3 when we were evaluated, and subsequently the TEFRA we obtained has been such a blessing for us. The education and connections we obtained at our first CureDuchenne conference, including Dr Castro and information about clinical trials, have ultimately changed the outlook we have on the course of this diagnosis.

Our previous preceptors, professors, colleagues, students, and residents have opened the doors of new job opportunities when needed, advocacy for those living with Duchenne, and education for other families living with Duchenne and future healthcare providers.

None of this has been coincidence. No, far from it. God has been on the move.

“And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” -Phil 1:6
