OCTOBER | Perhaps it is the first cooler morning, or the feeling of the evenings drawing in. A jumper comes out of the wardrobe, a heavier knit is reached for, and suddenly wool feels like exactly what you want to be wearing.

It is such a familiar part of Autumn that it is easy to forget how extraordinary it is. 🐑

This month, as part of Wool Month, we wanted to spend some time talking about wool at OUBAS; why we work with it, what makes it so special, and the many forms it can take.

This month throughout Wool Month we’re writing and sharing what wools we use, our design process and celebrating the amazing beauty of #britishwool

It is the magical interconnectedness of farm, land, craftsperson, designer, textile engineer and you, all those who love it that make OUBAS wool garments what they become and mean in your lives.

Nice way to see out the year with the stunning people at @oubasknitwear. They asked me to capture their process, people and place and I loved spending a couple of days in Cumbria with my trusty Super 8 camera capturing just that. 🎞️

Today we've teamed up with one of our favourite local restaurants @heft_high_newton, to win a £240 voucher for a set dinner for two. 🥂

Like the Herdwick 🐑 Kevin & Nicola Tickle are ‘hefted’ to Cumbria.

Nicola is from a family that have continuously farmed, the fells and valleys, of the Lake District since the 1600s.
Kevin, also Cumbrian born, was taught by his father to forage and fish. He understands the rhythms of the lakes, becks, heaths and the sea.
They are of this landscape. Cumbria is their ‘heft’ 🏔️

A spotlight on our Eden Dresses tonight which we have rereleased online - now available in our range of natural herb dyed shades of fine merino wool. 🌟

We imagined what our favourite dress would be for everyday; comfortable, elegant, natural and able to be styled in many ways.

Made in England using fine merino wool sourced through the @discover.nativa program; the wool has been processed and dyed in Italy using herbs, plants and no chemicals. 🌿

Made by @oubasstudio in England using state-of-the-art knitting machines and traditional hand-operated linking machines; a balance of digital and traditional craftsmanship.
