National Breastfeeding Week / Semaine nationale de l’allaitement maternel 2026

As National Breastfeeding Week 🇨🇦(Oct 1-7, 2026) comes to a close and intersects with celebrations for International Babywearing Week held throughout October, come take a peek at how babywearing can support breastfeeding. Whether it’s keeping your baby close to be able to respond to their cues more quickly, safely nursing with the help of a baby carrier, or pumping human milk with your baby on your back, babywearing is a practice rooted in connection that can strengthen the relationship in your feeding journey.

Even though breastfeeding while babywearing is a skill, it doesn’t have to be complicated!

Did you know you can just:
1) Loosen your carrier.
2) Lower your baby down.
3) Latch on.
4) Feed your baby with a hand on them in an assisted carry.
5) Raise them back up when done feeding.
6) Retighten your carrier.
7) Continue on with your day!

"What’s the best carrier" is such a common question… and the answer can be so different from one person to another. The right answer is always the one that fits your body, your baby and your family needs in one specific moment of your life. So… what’s your current fave right now?

That being said, there are definitely lower quality carriers made from poor materials or counterfeit products. Our statement that there is no single best choice applies only to quality carriers, including both modern structured designs and traditional carriers.

If you or someone you know wants to try different options to find the best fit for you, a great solution is to reach out to a local consultant - or passionate friends who collects carriers (educators, feel free to let a comment with your location for people to find you easily!)

One simple question, a more complex answer 🤭

The best carrier isn’t the same for everyone, and most people who have tried different carriers end up with more than one favorite (that’s us!)

Thats because our babies grow, our bodies change and our daily activities evolve too!

This reel isn’t meant to show you the best carriers or even our favorites... it’s meant to show you the diversity of carriers we’re reaching at one specific moment of our journey.

We’re also not saying you necessarily need more than one carrier if you don’t want to. We just wanted to show you it takes more than seeing one online ad to know if you’re going to love (or hate) one, because every family is unique!

Check out your local babywearing educator (or ask your passionate friend if you have one!) and try a bunch of different carriers: the best one is the one that work for YOU!

Breastfeeding in a carrier can be a valuable tool for so many BUT I find many struggle at the beginning- especially when they only see a body type that differs from them having success.

There are different struggles depending on your chest size, and myself and many other educators are putting together a series on breastfeeding in carriers and how that looks with different body types, baby ages and stages (and yes, you can absolutely still feed your toddler in the carrier!), and carriers.

Here, we're starting with buckle carriers. These are a really versatile and popular option for good reason. They tend to be an easy starting point and allow for easy adjustments to get baby in position.

✨ ALWAYS REMEMBER TO READJUST AND RETIGHTEN ONCE FINISHED ACTIVELY NURSING ✨

What do you want to hear in the next one? We were planning to have one with tips for different chest sizes- but we want to hear from you!
