Should you buy property now or wait?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer.

Most people walk into a dealership or bank and take the first finance option they’re given… but that’s rarely the best one.

One option vs multiple can be the difference between paying what you’re told — and paying what you should.

As a broker, I can compare across 40+ lenders to:
• Find more competitive rates
• Structure the deal around your situation
• Focus on the outcome, not just approval

That second opinion could save you thousands over the life of your loan.

If you’ve got existing finance or you’re planning a purchase soon, feel free to reach out — happy to do a no-obligation review or quote.

Treasurer Hints at Several Interest Rate Cuts as Markets Face Turmoil:

Treasurer Jim Chalmers offered a glimmer of hope for mortgage holders, suggesting that market volatility triggered by Donald Trump’s tariff war could lead to interest rate cuts this year. Speaking yesterday, Chalmers pointed to bond market forecasts predicting the Reserve Bank of Australia may reduce the cash rate up to four times in 2025, with some speculation of a possible 50 basis point cut as early as next month. It is highly unlikely. A rate cut is expected, but more in the range of 25 basis points. The RBA simply doesn’t operate like that. Yes, global share markets are moving erratically, but a 50-point cut isn’t their style. Despite ongoing volatility in currency and equity markets, Chalmers remained confident that Australia is well-positioned to navigate the global economic uncertainty.

Australians facing retirement with mortgage debt:

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has opted to keep the nation’s cash rate steady, avoiding any unexpected moves just weeks before the federal election. In its first meeting under a new dual-board structure, the RBA monetary policy board maintained the cash rate target at 4.10 per cent, following a long-anticipated cut in February. RBA Governor Michele Bullock confirmed the board’s unanimous decision, stating there was no discussion of a rate cut. “The board didn’t explicitly discuss a rate cut, though we considered downside risks, including global uncertainties,” Bullock said. “So far, data since February suggests things are on track, supporting our decision.”

Auction Results Sydney & NSW for this week:

Based on auctions in New South Wales, there was a 54% clearance rate. This week, 431 properties were sold at auction. 343 properties were sold before, and 32 properties were sold after the auction. When looking at properties that weren’t sold, 399 were withdrawn, and 284 properties were passed in.

Trump’s Tariffs: How They Could Impact Your Mortgage and Car Loan

Trump’s tariff hikes could indirectly impact mortgages and car finance in Australia. The economic uncertainty and stock market turmoil may push the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) to cut interest rates to support growth, potentially lowering mortgage and car loan rates. However, if tariffs slow global trade and weaken the Australian economy, job losses and reduced consumer confidence could make it harder for borrowers to secure loans. Additionally, a weaker Australian dollar could increase the cost of imported cars, leading to higher car loan amounts. Ultimately, while rate cuts might provide relief, economic instability could pose risks for borrowers.

Australians facing retirement with mortgage debt:

The number of retiring homeowners with mortgage debt is on the rise, driven by soaring property prices and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. Research indicates this figure could double in the coming years. As homebuyers age and property values climb, many Australians are now carrying mortgage debt into retirement. Currently, 14% of retirees have outstanding home loans, but that number jumps to 28% for those aged 50-64. Financial advice plays a crucial role, with 45% of homeowners confident about retiring debt-free—a figure that increases to 63% after seeking guidance. “It’s simple, yet often difficult to execute. People tend to overcomplicate what should be straightforward.”

Auction Results Sydney & NSW for this week:

Based on auctions in New South Wales, there was a 56% clearance rate. This week, 306 properties were sold at auction. 289 properties were sold before the auction, and 34 properties were sold after the auction.

When looking at properties that weren’t sold, 307 were withdrawn, and 196 properties were passed in.

New Data Reveals Housing Deposits Are More Unattainable Than Ever:

New research reveals that those who followed the government’s advice a decade ago to “get a good job that pays good money” to enter the housing market are now further from their goal than ever. Ten years ago, a homebuyer needed a $154,600 deposit to purchase a median-priced house. If an average full-time male worker had saved 15% of every paycheck over the past decade, they would have accumulated $126,096—falling short of their initial target and even further behind today’s required deposit of $281,500. This means that after ten years of saving toward a $154,600 goal, they would now need an additional $155,404 to afford a median-priced home. Similar trends are evident across the country, though Sydney’s housing market has seen the most extreme increases.

Auction Results Sydney & NSW for this week:

The clearance rate for auctions in New South Wales was 56%. This week, 321 properties were sold at auction, 315 before the auction and 38 after it. When looking at properties that weren’t sold, 333 were withdrawn and 207 properties were passed in.

How to Secure a Car Loan for $30K–$50K After the Recent RBA Cash Rate Drop:

Securing a car loan for a vehicle priced between $30,000 and $50,000 after the recent RBA cash rate drop requires careful planning and the right finance broker. Start by assessing your credit score, income stability, and debt-to-income ratio, as these factors affect loan approval and interest rates. A knowledgeable broker can help you find competitive financing options, leveraging lower rates to secure better terms. They will compare lenders, explain loan structures, and ensure you meet eligibility criteria. Look for a licensed broker who is transparent about fees and repayment conditions, helping you secure an affordable and flexible car loan.
