🎬 OUR OCEAN TABLE

OFFICIAL SELECTION | BCEFF 2026

What if protecting the ocean begins with the food that connects us to home?

Inspired by iconic Korean seafood dishes, filmmaker Sonya Lee and journalist Hannah Sung explore how culture, immigrant identity and food can inspire ocean conservation.

In *Leaving Familiar Shores*, they investigate the seafood inside soondubu jjigae, join sustainable prawn fishers in Vancouver and bring their catch to Korean-Canadian chefs for a conversation around the traditional bapsang.

Directed by Sonya Lee and Jon Chiang.

Have you heard of @oceanwise?

During the Toronto premiere of Our Ocean Table, we were lucky enough to have them sponsor our reception with some delicious and sustainable food.

Ocean Wise is a non-profit organization inspiring action to conserve our oceans. Looking for their label while buying seafood is a great way to support our oceans and marine life!

🎬✨FascinAsian Film Festival – Calgary 2026✨🎬

The 2026 edition of FascinAsian Film Festival – Calgary brought together filmmakers, artists, audiences, volunteers, and community members from across Calgary and beyond to celebrate Pan-Asian stories through film, conversation, and connection. 💛

Over four incredible days, we shared feature films, shorts programs, workshops, industry events, artist talks, exhibitions, Q&As, receptions, and community gatherings — all centered around this year’s theme: The Year of the Horse: The Year of the Trailblazer.

From the opening night energy of Akashi, to packed shorts programs, inspiring filmmaker conversations, the Everyday Trailblazer PhotoVoice Exhibit, and our closing night celebrations, this year’s festival reminded us of the power of storytelling to bring people together.

Thank you to every filmmaker, artist, volunteer, sponsor, partner, venue staff member, moderator, photographer, and audience member who helped make this festival possible. Your support, creativity, and care are what continue to grow this community year after year.

And thank you to everyone who showed up — whether you attended one screening or spent the whole weekend with us. We’re so grateful you were part of it. 🎥🌏

Until next year ✨
