Took a day trip to New York City! One of the best cities in the world! I already miss it and want to be back again. 😂🗽📸✨

Did a photoshoot with the incredible Megumi Maria! A beautiful soul, model, actress, and TV host. It was such an amazing day exploring, creating art, and sharing stories.

Photography has a beautiful way of bringing people from different walks of life together. Grateful for these moments, new friendships, and the opportunity to capture memories. I’m excited where my camera will take me next.

Thank you, Megumi, for an unforgettable day in NYC! I feel so inspired. Until our next creative adventure! 🇺🇸🇯🇵🇰🇭❤️

✨From surviving to thriving. We are becoming.✨

That was the theme of the first ever @khmerdiasporaconference organized by Dr. Christine Su @khmergenerations.

Here are clips from interviews I captured over this magical weekend of connection and inspiration.

Never have I walked into a room not knowing anyone (except some online) and felt so at home. I went there to be in community and left with a full heart.

To be in rooms filled with artists, writers, intellectuals, leaders, the very people the Khmer Rouge targeted, was empowering.

Thank you @ani_v @oussa__56 @lidamix @lthach27 @beyondthemekong @one.naga @pichchendabaopoet for agreeing to share a bit about yourselves.

Even though it was 3 days, I didn’t connect with as many people as I’d hoped. I’m grateful to have met so many incredible people not named here though.

You can find the full mini interviews in the latest episode of Khmer Voices, available on your favourite podcast app!

2 words: holy. SHIT!!!
I can't express enough how much I genuinely enjoyed being at the Khmer Diaspora Conference with everyone. It felt like I just found all my lost siblings and family. The way that I instantly clicked with everyone I met and the way that everyone else did... like so many others within the Khmer community, I don't think I've ever felt this much at home, safe, celebrated, accepted and loved for who I am within the Khmer community up until this conference.
It was soo lovely to meet you all; @beyondthemekong, @mealeacollection, @ms.ratha, @thekhmercollective, @oussa__56, @sa_pi_ra, @clprojectclt, @maobeckett_resetresilient, @ddcheth, @khmervoices, @sinasam_public, @pyjammah, @calaalowell, and so many more of you I can't fit here. Every conversation I had and witnessed at the conference, I felt honored and seen. Honored to be with others who've been down the path I walk, with others like me in so many ways that I didn't know were out there. To let alone be connected with ALL of you 🥹

There was laughter, grief, tears, and every other deep emotion that accompanies the weight of being Khmer. It felt like we all came together to collectively acknowledge this weight we all felt we carried alone, and together we embraced ourselves and each other as brethren. It felt like no matter what walk of life we all come from, we were all accepted and seen for who we were.

Previously, I had so much doubt if I would even be accepted and included because of my experiences of judgment and shame growing up whenever it came to the Khmer community that I found that many of us share. But meeting everyone at the con, I truly felt like I lost a layer of something that held me back. I really sincerely felt like I have just finally found... home. With every single person I met. With all of you.

Thank you for touching me in a way that I'd always yearned for as a 2nd gen Khmer kid. You all have shown me that we all really do have a place in being Khmer no matter how or what we are. Thank you @khmerdiasporaconference for this unforgettable event, you're truly the best. Thanks @sam_hy_1977 for picking my logo for 2nd place and thank you everyone who came & bought my art 💗
