What a wild ride it’s been! 💫

I remember sitting on my 90min morning commute (to go sit in a millennial grey cubicle) thinking there has GOT to be more to life than this.

If you’re on the fence about a business idea, or a different life, please please please do yourself a favour and figure out a way to at least trial it for a 6-12months.

I’m not saying you’ll figure it all out in that time, but you will definitely understand if it’s a path you should keep investing in.

I took a year off my 9-5 to do just that, and even though a pandemic hit in the middle of it (🫩) it only made me more determined to not go back to that old life.

A few things I did that helped me take a year off:

- Saved 6 months of living expenses (I worked odd jobs alongside my 9-5 to pull this together)
- Turned reoccurring clients into retainer clients. I had 3 clients on 6 month contracts by the time I took a year off
- Said yes to all the fun opportunities that build skills and experience but not necessarily the bank account (that’s what the retainer clients were for).
- Important: I was building my presence online and showcasing my expertise for 7 years before I took a year off.
I was also investing time, money, energy building my skill set, training as a personal stylist, learning a whole new industry. My blog and Instagram became my resume and brought in all my future opportunities.

It paid off 🙏🏾
