Autumn, the greatest season. Orange leaves, groovy jackets, and the spirits return to greet the living. What better way to enjoy the season, than a rave on the river?

We invite the souls from the other side all aboard the Cult Cruise.

Join our Cult as we depart along the Red River from the Chuong Duong harbor from 4PM we will have vinyl sets, DJs, and rituals performed and entities over views of the epic Red River of Ha Noi.

With top notch soundsystem, 5 acts hailing from all over the globe, and an intimate crew with full bar on the boat, you get the gift of sunset and sounds as we pass iconic bridges, buildings, and temples along the riverside of this ancient city.

A few months into our first release, and we’ve managed to make movements to preserve our creative critter the Red Shanked Douc of Vietnam!

What’s a label to do without a little gathering, surely we can’t produce in our studios much longer ~ so we brought together few of the releases most kindred spirits to celebrate psychetronics sounds of @shankeddoucrecords !

We are stoked to announce that ‘A Message From Khanh’ has started its festival run.

‘A Message From Khanh’ is an intimate documentary portrait of Vietnamese surrealist artist Dao Anh Khanh, a sculptor, painter, musician, performance artist, and environmentalist whose extraordinary life has challenged artistic and political convention for decades. Once responsible for censoring art and music as a police officer, Khanh abandoned that life entirely in pursuit of creative freedom, becoming one of Southeast Asia’s most uncompromising contemporary artists.

The film was born from a chance encounter at Outlandish Festival in Northern Vietnam. After briefly meeting Khanh in 2024, I knew there was a much deeper story waiting to be told. Returning a year later with co-creator Ali Vann, we travelled by motorbike through Northern Vietnam, embedding ourselves within Khanh’s world. Rather than constructing a traditional biographical documentary, we chose to follow his rhythm, which meant sharing meals, conversations, long silences, and moments of spontaneous creativity as they unfolded.

Though this film touches on Khanh as an artist, it studies his way of living via meditation on freedom, reinvention, and what it means to live authentically in a world that often rewards conformity. Khanh’s philosophy is deeply human, encouraging us to reject fear and embrace curiosity.

Tensions between Hanoi's nightlife and authorities have grown in recent times, as police target venues and their patrons with increasingly frequent drug testing, searches and raids. With clubs becoming hostile spaces as a result, the city's electronic music community is finding new spaces and forms of expression.

Festivals have been forced to scale back, iconic clubs have closed, and promoters are rethinking how and where people gather. Across Hanoi, coffee shops, restaurants, bars and art spaces are becoming vital meeting points, where music communities continue to build resilience, nurture new artists and find meaning in connection.

@shankeddoucrecords premieres our charity compilation dedicated to the preservation of the infamous Red Shanked Douc creature of Vietnam, and the quality bouncey sounds of house, prog, downtempo, dub, bass, ambient and techno of producers in the region of Asia Pacific.

All tracks crafted with love - and developed for Asian dance floors. From creators living , from/based or toured in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand of which the Douc inhabits.
Developed for the psychedelic jungle utopia put forth by @outlandish.vn in our hearts, minds and third eye. Body music with a dash of heady experimentalism by Asia Pacific’s movers.

Shanked Douc emits psych sounds with a purpose - encouraging fresh producers to create with a cause - release their inner workings while supporting the conservation of the Shanked Douc family of Monkeys of which there are less than 2000 left - while simultaneously morphing club culture creators to focus on their studio projects - while Vietnam changes heavily towards party culture - and developing ever expanding cities.

The energy during the workshop was honestly something special — open hearts, deep breaths, laughter, movement, connection… the kind of moments that remind me why I love sharing this practice so much.

Thank you to every soul who came and allowed themselves to fully be there with me. You made the session feel alive, wild, healing and unforgettable.

And thank you to Outlandish for creating spaces where humans can connect this genuinely, and to the photographer @yoitztd 🙏🏻 for capturing these moments so beautifully 🤍✨
