The 62GS is peak Grand Seiko case design. No bias at all 😅

But rendered in gold, the sharp facets and Zaratsu finishing take on a completely different character.

The new Grand Seiko Spring Drive U.F.A. Ushio 300 Diver 🌊 is a perfect example.

For years, collectors have been asking Grand Seiko for a more wearable dive watch with improved ergonomics, a smaller case size, and a modern micro-adjust clasp. This year, they finally delivered. 👏

The Ushio isn’t just another dive watch either. It features Grand Seiko’s new Spring Drive U.F.A. (Ultra Fine Accuracy) movement, rated to an astonishing ±20 seconds per year, making it one of the most accurate wristwatches powered by a mainspring ever produced. ⚡🎯

Most importantly for me, the ergonomics are excellent. On the wrist, it feels balanced, comfortable, and purpose-built for daily wear. The textured blue dial inspired by the ocean’s tides gives it plenty of character without sacrificing legibility. 🌊💙

I have a feeling we’ll be seeing the Ushio on a lot of wrists in the years ahead. What do you think of Grand Seiko’s latest diver? 👇

Wrist shot of the understated and timeless Grand Seiko SBGA373G. Not as showy as the popular textured dials with backstories such as the Snowflake, Silver Birch etc, but there's a lot to be said for quiet achievers! And nobody does a champagne dial like Grand Seiko.

A while back, I attended a leadership mentor program where we mapped our intrinsic and extrinsic motivation drivers, aka why we actually work.

Some identified a strong purpose orientation, others were fueled by impact creation, legacy thinking, or self actualization. We talked motivational frameworks, value alignment, and professional meaning making.

My results? Oddly specific.
The sole primary incentive behind my labor output: financing trips to Japan.

No higher calling. No grand mission. Just a very clear reward based motivation system 🇯🇵😂
The facilitator was amused. Possibly concerned.

Anyway, here’s a photo dump from the latest field study 📸
