POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Went to see @tothegraveau in LA last night with a group of 10 or so animal rights activists. Former ALF activists who served extensive prison time for releasing thousands of mink from a fur farm and combatting the vivisection industry. Organizers from all over SoCal, some facing over a decade in prison for rescuing puppies from Ridglan Farms. People who have been kicked, punched, beaten, spit on, pepper sprayed, gassed, shot with rubber bullets, arrested, and ostracized by family, friends, and society, and who still dedicate their lives to protecting the most vulnerable and innocent beings on this planet.

We spend so much time speaking up for those who can’t speak for themselves, so it’s such a nice break to watch a band that does the speaking for us. Through their art they pour out the grief, anger, and heartbreak so many of us carry, and that catharsis means more than they’ll ever know. Our favorite part of the night was when they threw a stack of @animalactivismcollective flyers into the crowd, urging people to join the movement. In my opinion they are the greatest animal rights band to ever bless the stage, and we appreciate them so dearly.

Recently I MC’d the @marchforanimals March To Abolish Animal Testing, where people walked hundreds of miles across New York to the gates of Marshall BioResources, with nearly 1,000 people there and the whole thing broadcast worldwide. Marshall is the largest breeder of dogs for experiments in the country. A former employee says they were told to inject dogs in the belly with euthanasia drugs and no sedation, and watched conscious dogs scream and thrash before being told to inject them again. They say healthy dogs were killed for cage space, or because their eye color or tail shape didn’t match what customers wanted. A former federal prosecutor has now sent a criminal referral to the Wayne County DA.

And this place has the audacity to call us terrorists. So I quoted this band and said to the live crowd, “They view us this way? Well, I have a question for you, Marshall BioResources. If we are terrorists for rescuing puppies, then what does that make you?!”

Thank you TTG. May life treat you the way you treat animals. 🤘

SeaWorld’s Master Plan goes to the San Diego City Council on Tuesday, Oct 13 at 2:00 PM, and we need you there. 🐬

This plan will shape what SeaWorld can build and do in Mission Bay for years to come. The Planning Commission recommended approval in July with a five-year fireworks phase-out. That’s a start, but it doesn’t go far enough.

We’re asking the Council for three things:

1️⃣ A full fireworks phase-out. Mission Bay’s wildlife and neighbors shouldn’t have to wait out a slow wind-down.

2️⃣ Restore the two-tier public review provisions, so the public keeps its say in future SeaWorld projects.

3️⃣ A cap on cetacean display facilities. No expansion of tanks for whales and dolphins.

DxE investigators documented horrific conditions at a large-scale factory farm supplier for Meyenberg, a "Certified Humane" goat dairy in California's Central Valley. The authorities refuse to do their jobs and chose to prosecute animal rescuers, while the animal abuse continues 😡 Goats deserve better! LA grocer Erewhon has already dropped Meyenberg! Go to @lazyacresmarket and comment on their posts TODAY to demand they get with the program and stop profiting off this extreme cruelty!

Details on the investigation can be found here: https://www.directactioneverywhere.com/campaigns/stop-meyenbergs-goat-graveyard

Last Night, the San Diego Democratic Party officially endorsed Measure E - The Lemon Grove Bird Initiative.

We are grateful for their endorsement. Protecting animals is something everyone can get behind.

We just got assigned our Measure letter E for our bird initiative in Lemon Grove.

On November 3, Lemon Grove Residents will have a chance to protect birds from the cruel retail sales pipeline by voting YES on Measure E!

If you want to help us - please DM us to get involved as we will be hitting the streets in September.

The @outreachsd crew spoke up for the animals yesterday at La Jolla Cove.

The message is simple. Animals exist for their own purposes and we as humans do not have the right to use and exploit them.

People make veganism way more complicated than necessary. It’s simple. It’s a matter of respect. It’s a matter of justice.

If you were in your victim’s position, how urgently would you want this injustice to end?

Live aligned. Live vegan.

There are so many ways to get active and speak 🗣️ up for the animals. Here’s a simple one.

Read below for 3️⃣ steps and 3️⃣ tips ⬇️

1️⃣ Grab a whiteboard.
2️⃣ Go to an area with high foot traffic.
3️⃣ Talk to people.

Not sure what to say or how to navigate the conversations?

Three quick tips:
1️⃣ Keep the conversation centered around the victims, the abolition of animal use, and helping the person you are speaking with to understand that veganism is a justice movement (not a diet, not about human health, not about the environment, not about baby steps, etc..). Help them see it from the victim’s perspective.

2️⃣I find that convos go best when I am clear, direct, assertive (not aggressive - there is a big difference), and respectful. Our words have impact. Our non-verbal communication has massive impact. What’s in our heart matters the most.

3️⃣ Don’t worry about not being perfect. Just get out there. Get experience. Reflect on how it went. Improve. Keep moving forward.

For educational examples check out these powerful activists. They both have different styles and are both highly effective!

🗣️ Speaking up for the animals!

We hit up Oceanside with a 5 minute movie written and edited by @animals.deserve.respect (check out his bio for a link to the movie) that clearly communicates all animals are someone not something, deserve respect, and and have the right to be free from exploitation and use. After each person watched the movie, we had a follow up conversation.

I had one person tell me that they had been thinking about going vegan and were glad we were there.

We also met a woman who fosters dogs from the Beagle Freedom Project. Amazing work.

Thank you @animals.deserve.respect for organizing outreach this evening.

Last Sunday we did a spontaneous 4Q outreach session in Oceanside. The 4Q protocol is so simple and powerful.

This was the convo in our house:
Jake: I’m done with all my homework.
Me: I’m done with food prep for next week.
Jake: Want to go do outreach in Oceanside?

Just like that it came together. Grabbed a few whiteboards, cards, and markers, sent a few messages and 90 minutes later we (me, Jake, and Jason was able to join too) were having outstanding convos with people in Oceanside.

We were there for two hours and literally had a steady stream of convos the entire time.

⚖️ The injustice that happens to animals only continues in the dark. Every action brings the injustice out into the light.

One day animal exploitation will end.

Be relentlessly optimistic.

If you’re in the L.A. area check out @plan.it.vegan and @vegan_rapunzel for 4Q outreach tonight in Burbank.

We’re grateful for the incredible community effort behind the Lemon Grove Bird Initiative, which aims to protect birds from being sold in pet stores in Lemon Grove and help prevent the cruelty associated with the commercial bird trade.

Thanks to the dedication of so many supporters and signature gatherers, we’re getting close to qualifying the initiative for the ballot.

Join us for an Appreciation Lunch as we celebrate everyone who has helped move this effort forward — and bring together the community to finish the final push.

RSVP - Link in BIO
Food provided

Whether you’ve been collecting signatures or want to help for the first time, we’d love to see you there.

Together, we can bring this initiative to the ballot. 🐦

The @outreachsd crew hit Oceanside today for 4Q Outreach.

Injustices are rooted in lack of respect and empathy, abuse of power, selfishness, and seeing others as lesser than another.

❌ Veganism is not a diet

⚖️ Veganism is a justice movement

⛓️‍💥 We must break the root mindsets of greed, selfishness, lack of respect, and abuse of power.

🗣️ If you are vegan, please get active and speak up for the animals.
DM to find out how to join us.

One day the exploitation of animals will come to an end.

Be Relentlessly Optimistic!
