D-Day! Opening Day! We are delighted to announce our participation at @outsiderparis !

Based between Mexico City and the historic town #saintcirqlapopiefrance🇫🇷 our gallery’s mission is to defend and rediscover artists whose work and singular practices have remained outside the dominant narratives of art history. Their work invite us to look beyond conventions and stablished boundaries. - We will present a very special sculpture by:
Jesús Rodríguez (Mexico City, 1953) was raised in a
family of shoemakers and shoe repairers. He developed his practice through a deeply personal
relationship with memory, poetry and found objects. As a child, one of his greatest ambitions was
to learn to read and write. Largely self-taught, he gradually built his own cultural world beyond the
boundaries of formal education, discovering poetry and Surrealism through books found in second-
hand markets. Through this self-directed encounter with literature and art, he developed a rich and
personal body of knowledge, transforming what he discovered into a language entirely his own.
Sewing machines, tools and fragments of everyday life become assemblages in which chance
encounters between objects generate unexpected associations and meanings. His work reflects a
persistent impulse to discover, learn and construct new worlds from what is close at hand. #outsiderparis #mexicanartist #contrmporaryart #outsiderart

We can't wait to present you the works by artists of Galerie DYS and La S Grand Atelier together on booth 5.

WRITING OTHER HISTORIES OF ART

In three days, La Main d’Or will be in Paris for Outsider Paris, presenting a selection of eight artists brought together in the French capital for the first time.

Coming from different geographies, generations and artistic practices, these artists have developed singular visual languages, often beyond the dominant narratives of art history. Rather than seeking a common aesthetic, we have chosen to bring these worlds, trajectories and ways of seeing into dialogue.

Working between Mexico and France, La Main d’Or pursues an ongoing practice of research, rediscovery and recognition, with a particular focus on singular artistic practices and stories that remain outside traditional frameworks of artistic recognition.

For this edition of @outsiderparis we included the work of Arturo MECALCO (Mexico City, 1948), an electrician and artist, developed a practice deeply rooted in his experience as a working man and in the everyday life of Mexico City’s popular
neighbourhoods.

During the 1970s, he was closely associated with Tepito Arte Acá, taking part in murals, installations and community-based projects. Since the 1960s, his drawings have transformed figures, scenes and elements from his immediate surroundings into compositions of striking intensity, deeply rooted in Mexican popular culture.

We are delighted to share his artistic world with you at this new edition of Outsider Paris, during Paris’s contemporary art week.
