Back in 2019, I was a freshman at Tufts with a fuck a** bob, hopping on the Chinatown bus from Boston to Allen St every weekend just to see my friends in the city. I had no idea how I was going to make it, didn’t know much about anything, and it felt like everything was always changing—but there were two things I knew for sure: I hated Boston, and I was going to figure out a way to be an artist in this city one day.

Nobody had fake IDs. We were all under 21, broke, unemployed college kids trying to figure out how to have fun in the city that never sleeps. That’s when I started bringing around my giant collection of Sharpies and doing portraits for strangers in Times Square until we hit $100 — and then we’d spend it all on Halal Guys and slushies from 7/11.

Also, my favorite pair of earrings was this fork & knife that I had made myself in Beginning Metals class at SMFA, I was painting my nails rainbow and turning literally EVERYTHING into earrings back then…🌈🦋✨
