So, what do you get when 1 day, 2 buds combine 3 hobbies and go on a 4 mile excursion in one of the most beautiful untouched zones in AR? 5 star boulders of course! This place is out there man, in more ways than one. You gotta channel your hard ass ancestors just to get there, and maybe wear bibs that don’t leak 😬. Rock quality is crazy silly, just on its knees begging to be fondled. Tons of good angles. Zero humans. This one sits firmly in the ‘adventure climbing’ category, reserved for the go getters. Like packing in 3 days worth of food and sleeping on a pad kind of vibe. Hike-in approach beta scouting trips are happening this weekend. Don’t be shy 💋 Ode Hollow

When @figureheadmediahouse and I first walked up on this boulder our giddy excitement was pretty quickly washed away by the fact that it had about as many holds as Arkansas has palm trees. But @arkansasbouldering and @matt_marciante showed up and started pouring pina coladas and building sand castles with their imaginations. Now it looks like a few lines will go, and they will probably both be double digit. No sends yet so we’re going to let these dudes have some more time to get-er-done. I usually hate doing this… but I’m going to pre-hype this spot up quite a bit in the next month or so. There’s a crew that’s pretty committed to doing the hard work led by Dubb, if you know who that is, hit him up. We’re going to be scouting two more hollers in the vicinity and expect similar results. So don’t drink too much egg nog this month, shit goes straight to your foopah.

We’ve been saying it for years- ‘roadside is over, it’s all been found.’ Arkansas FA’s we’re left in the hands of the truly motivated adventure seekers that aren’t afraid of two hours of brambles between them and the send. Welp, when @figureheadmediahouse and I accidentally stumbled upon this spot the other day, we couldn’t have been more stoked to be proved wrong. Good quality, good concentration and on the right day you could damn near see your car from every boulder. This first one I’m posting just because of how stunning it is. It may only turn out to be V1-V3ish.. (like I know) but either way, it will be classic. The setting is magical, the rock is stellar, a picture of someone climbing this would be magazine worthy. A few of the angles here make it look like you’d fall into water, but if you check out the last photo you can see how overhung it is, and that you’d fall safely onto the perfectly flat rock underneath it. For this zone we are going to do things a little differently, I’m giving first rights to locals. This weekend there will be a crew going down to start brushing, if you want in just hit me up. There is a LOT to choose from and we think this will end up being a well traveled area, so boot up. 😘

It’s rewarding to challenge your comfort zone, but I wouldn’t have done this without the stoke, patience, and loads of pad protection provided by a great crew!
Took more tries and falls than I anticipated, but failure is often apart of the process. Learning from failure and getting up and trying again and again IS success! Completing your goal is just icing on the cake. Never quit believing in the process.
