In Loving Memory of Jerry Ray Deaton

Family & Friends,

It is with the deepest sadness that we share the passing of our family leader, dad, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and dear friend, Jerry Ray Deaton. Dad peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday morning, October 5th.

We already miss him more than words can express.

Dad’s love and dedication to his family were truly indescribable. His silly handshakes, the nicknames he had for family members, and all of those little things that were uniquely Dad are memories we will treasure forever. And, of course, we cannot forget his infatuation with Dolly Parton! 😀 Those are the things that made him who he was and that we will hold close to our hearts.

His unwavering faith and love for the Lord were at the center of who he was. Dad was a man who believed in doing the right thing—always. In fact, he could never quite understand why anyone would choose to do otherwise. He believed in leading by example, treating people right, and staying true to what he believed. He loved his church, our mom, his SMU Mustangs, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers. But most of all, he loved his family unconditionally.

His legacy of faith, love, loyalty, and family will continue to live on through all of us who were blessed to know him.
Our family is incredibly grateful for all of your thoughts, prayers, and love during this difficult and unexpected time. Your kindness and support mean more to us than you know. At this time, we are still unsure of the plans for a memorial service.

Again, thank you for loving and supporting our family, and most of all, thank you for loving Jerry—aka Dad, aka Grandy, aka Bronc, aka Da, aka Silver Dollar. He was many things to many people, but to us, he was simply Dad—and we will love and miss him forever.

With love and gratitude,

The Deaton Family
