Hear me out: ultra relays are the next big thing in running. 🤘

Last Saturday we ran 160K as a @kokoro.collective team in the Relay Rodeo organized by @pace_cowboys

Starting at midnight, running all the way around Markermeer. Back to back, through the whole night.

No expectations… and we finished 1st place in 10 hours 42 minutes.

Absolute madness.

One of the most fun things I’ve done within running. Crazy kilometers with the magical team and field-tested new Kokoro Gear 👀.

I think running is actually kinda fun now… 160km relay around Markermeer I ran 35,77km 4,45min/km average pace 500 flies in my face between Lelystad and Enkhuizen. 2 ibuprofen 3 paracetamol 400mg cafeine and a lot of complaining but we had fun!

Pace Cowboys Relay Rodeo 160K Recap.

On Saturday, August 15th at 00:00, we started the 160K Relay Rodeo around the Markermeer.

After 11 hours, 19 minutes and 58 seconds, we crossed the finish line in 2nd place, with an average pace of 4:20/km.

Along the way, we had a lot of fun and stuck to the plan as much as possible.

Before the race, we all thought we’d need a power nap somewhere during the night. Turns out we were running on pure energy, sugar and caffeine, so nobody slept for a single minute. 🤣

One part I’ll never forget was the Markerwaarddijk. The entire road was covered in swarms of mosquitoes, and we definitely weren’t prepared for that. Keeping your mouth open basically meant getting some extra protein in. 😂 So for most of that section, we had no choice but to breathe through our noses.

But there was one big upside to that road: the sunrise. 🌅

In the end, we had a solid plan, an amazing run, a great result and a 2nd-place finish with a team that was basically thrown together in the final week.

Couldn’t have asked for much more.
