✨ Join us for an evening of new music, original collaborations, language & culture. Centered around Kūpenga Whetū & navigation, we can't wait to perform in Kawerau a Maki, Auckland West.

A year ago today we wrapped the first round of rehearsals for the theatre show, "Music Portrait of a Humble Disabled Samoan" at Te Auaha. A hugely talented cast and crew coming together to tell Pati Umaga's story. Written by Oscar Kightley and directed by Nathaniel Lees. What followed was an awesome run of shows at the Auckland Arts Festival and Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of the Arts, winning the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion award at the NZ Event Awards, and a documentary by Mark Papali'i at the NZ International Film Festival called "My Humble Friend, Fonotī Pati Umaga". It was truly an honour to be part of this show 💖

What an honour to share the origin story of my Tongan father and Samoan mother moving to the South Island in the early 70s. Learning about their first encounters at the PIC youth group in the 70s, mum and dad owning a business and buying their first home in the 80s and dad being the founding president of the Tongan community group. Even the story of Big Red gets some time.

It’s because of my parents that I now have a story to share.

Keen to hear any stories you remember of the big red van. It’s done over 500km and still running.
