From recreational tourism to regular paddling: how do we bridge the gap?

A recent study conducted by the French Canoe and Kayak Federation (@ff_canoekayak) among tourism professionals estimates that nearly 3 million people in France paddle on an occasional basis. Across Europe, that potential audience probably exceeds 15 million people. Yet this huge exposure to paddle sports still converts into relatively few regular independent paddlers or club members. Why is that?

During this conference at The Paddle Sport Show, federations, brands, tourism professionals and specialist media shared their perspectives and explored how this huge pool of occasional participants could become the next generation of regular paddlers.

Community as a cornerstone of our sports and our market!

Attracting new paddlers is one challenge. Giving them a reason to stay is another. At a time when sporting habits are becoming increasingly individualized, community may be one of the most powerful tools we have for retaining participants.

Drawing in particular on the experiences of @_rallycrew_ and Canua, this conversation at the 2026 Paddle Sport Show explored how community can become a genuine driver of long-term participation—and ultimately of a stronger paddle sports market.

W tym roku odwiedziliśmy międzynarodowe targi sportów wioślarskich The Paddle Sports Show w Strasburgu.

@kanokajaki - największy w Polsce sklep kajakowy
@wigkayakscom - polski producent świetnych kajaków morskich
@rospuda.pl - wypożyczalnia kajaków w Raczkach
@cariboukayaks - polski producent kajaków 2, 3 i od niedawna także 1 osobowych

@perceptionkayak @wavesportkayaks @mypelican - mamy kajaki ich produkcji
