Over the weekend at The Ranch, we had the pleasure of meeting with Tony De Lafosse - an executive member of Mid-South Coast WIRES, and two rescued female wombats that will soon be released back into the wild - to hand over a cheque for $15,000! We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated and made it possible for us to reach our goal! Altogether we were able to raise $14,212, with The Oaks Ranch pledging the further $788 to meet our target. 100% of these funds will go towards the purchase of three humidicribs, food for wildlife as well as other essentials that contribute to the rescue and ongoing care of injured and displaced wildlife in the area. We’d like to give a special mention and a huge thank you to @oceanalleyband for their tremendous fundraising efforts, as well as the @tomakinclub2537 for their generous donation. While we saved my parents and sisters house, many of my friends have lost everything, in some cases multiple homes and businesses within the same families on the same day. One thing that it is truly alive is the Australian spirit. To see the community come together and support each other, was the most inspiring thing I have ever seen. People who have lost properties themselves, working 24hrs a day to protect others and in some cases with only the cloths on there backs left. It’s makes me so proud to be an Australian! While there still will be challenging fire conditions ahead in the coming weeks. I ask everyone when the headlines in the media slow down, please dont forgot about the South Coast. Book a holiday down there, don’t take anything, spend your money across all the businesses including all the amazing cafes, restaurants, shops, accommodation, outdoor activities and support all the local businesses. It’s going to need everyone’s effort to get the South Coast back up and running. To all the fire fighters, helicopter and plane pilots you should all get Australian of the year. There is nothing more Australian then the selfless and heroic efforts that you have all put in and continue to put in.
