The second of three jobs today was this stunning Jaguar E-Pace, the very first one we’ve had the pleasure of working on. Owned by a customer from Hayle – our home town – the E-Pace had been suffering from some DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) issues that needed urgent attention.

To get the job sorted, we headed over to our friends at Pads Fab in Pool, a workshop we collaborate with a couple of times a week. Pads Fab is run by Ben, a real expert in welding and fabrication, and we’d happily recommend him if you ever need custom work done. He’s one of those rare people who can make almost anything from metal!

With the Jaguar plugged into our diagnostic tools and some ECU work completed, we were able to get the DPF problem resolved quickly, getting the E-Pace running smoothly again. It’s always a pleasure working on something different, and we’re sure this one will now give its owner many more trouble-free miles around Cornwall.

This Saturday morning, we were over at Padsfab in Pool carrying out a few DPF deletes — and the first job of the day was something a little special.

Rachel brought in her Maserati Ghibli, which was showing a 100% full DPF warning. Left untreated, a blocked DPF can cause serious running problems, but we were able to put things right with our expert DPF delete service.

While we were fixing the issue, Rachel’s partner — a self-confessed petrolhead — decided to go one step further. We carried out a performance remapon the Maserati, pushing its power up to around 350BHP. Not bad at all for a big four-door luxury saloon!

We didn’t get the chance to take this Italian beauty for a test drive ourselves, but there’s no doubt it now runs like a rocket — and with its DPF issues firmly behind it, Rachel can enjoy the drive without worry.

At Kernowsport, we offer a full range of DPF delete and cleaning services alongside performance tuning packages to make sure your car not only runs reliably but performs at its very best.

Golf Refresh, Part 4

Folks may have seen a couple of posts over the past few months relating to brakes, so here’s the lowdown

I’d fancied some bigger front and rear brakes for a while, the previous front S3 setup looked great, but I’d been debating and researching the Brembo 18z swap, mostly known from being on the 1st gen Porsche Cayenne, but also found on some Touregs and Q7’s, 6 pot fronts were what I’d set my heart on, so a set was bought that also came with the 4 pot rears

Originally my plan was to sell the 4 pot rears, as I’d already sourced R32 rear calipers and this was my planned swap, however what I then learned was that you can run a dual caliper rear with the very 4 pots I’d then received along with the r32 items, 4 pots for foot brake, r32’s for handbrake

I stripped everything down as much as I could, but couldn’t do the piston removal myself, however, then problems, as Steve at Lustys and even an engineer friend of his struggled like crazy to get them out, reaching defeat with 2 pistons stuck in the 6 pots… this then changed the plan again

A search started, and weirdly, 10 minutes from mine, another set of 18z fronts and 4 pots rears were found, but with the pistons removed! Sorted, and off to Steve they went for paint. When written out this sounds like a short process, it was over 4 months! However in that time in Steve’s defence he did have a well earned holiday!

Whilst the brakes were in paint, I decided to just use brute force to see if I could salvage the original parts, long story short, I managed! Between all the old parts from both sets managed to piece together a full set up to then sell on

During all this many parts were sourced, everything new, seals, pistons, adapters, lines, you name it. Aswell as discs from MTech

Also gave the wheels a damn good go over and then gave both the wheels and brakes a coating of gtechniq c5

Everything fitted up, and it looks so good, especially combined with all the underneath work, Icouldn’t be happier, to everyone who’s helped, thank you so much!

Next step… MOT
