This journey has always been incredibly personal to me.

As a creative born and raised in Chicago, it’s always been bigger than curating a fashion show. @raetedrcreativeco was built to create opportunities for designers, models, and creatives across our city—to build the kind of platform I wish I had been exposed to as a young girl nurturing my creativity.

We are shaping Chicago’s fashion industry together by recognizing talent, creating opportunities, building community, and making sure everyone feels seen, valued, and accepted. This is about keeping my promises and standing on everything I believe in—using fashion as a vehicle to create something bigger than myself.

Thank you to every model who came out to our casting. Your time, energy, and belief in this vision mean more than you know.

We get so used to chaos we forget what peace feels like.

When the second semester ended at @plcdetroit and I went on break, I was so impatient and anxious waiting to hear back from both of my internships. Would I get them? When would summer classes start? Would my client proposal get approved? All while working on pre-production for another project.

I was constantly checking emails, overthinking, overworking. One day I went on the longest walk ever almost 3 hours total just trying to clear my head. That’s when I realized (or really, when God spoke to me):

“Everything has already worked itself out, Monique. You just need to take this time to rest. Trust me, you’ll need it.”

So I did.

I started reading my Bible in chronological order. My bestie bought me The Artist’s Way. I took pilates, yoga, journaling, and solo artist dates seriously. I even started scheduling 2-hour naps into my days. I allowed myself to keep an open heart, choose faith over fear, and trust the best in everything and everyone.

I found peace even through not knowing or understanding everything.

I realized the quiet, slow moments are actually okay. The stillness isn’t emptiness. It’s preparation, protection and peace.

Then boom I got both internships, the client proposal got approved, summer classes are starting soon, and I’m still in pre-production for a project I can’t wait to share.

Looking back now, I’m honestly grateful for the quiet season. I really cherished the moments where everything felt still or even “boring,” when in reality it was just an opportunity to bask in peace.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m beyond grateful for all the blessings. But now that life has picked up so fast again, those quiet moments mean even more to me.

Super proud to say I’ve completed my first year as a footwear design student at @plcdetroit under the tutelage of @designer_esm Also very honored to be elected the first student body president at Detroit’s first HBCU.

I designed 3 shoes this year and feel well equipped to work on complex footwear and industrial product design projects. It’s been nothing short of amazing and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Last day of the first semester with my cohort C/O ‘27! Super proud to know all of these creative and talented folk (missing a few) and also proud of the work they’ve put in as the very first class of students at Pensole Lewis College 🙌🏽🔥 Have a productive break, 3 more semester to go.
