Speaker Series 2026: A Note From Our Executive Director Thank you so much for attending our second annual Speaker Series at MOCA last Thursday. After months of planning, it was a complete delight to see everyone come together in such a beautiful space. As I chatted with guests after Rebecca's talk, one of the things I was most curious about was how non-writers would respond to the trials and tribulations of writing a book. I hoped--thought--that anyone might recognize a version of Debbie Reynolds hiding under a piano in our own lives, and one guest confirmed just that when he reminded me that it is always a pleasure to hear an expert discuss his or her craft. I couldn't agree more. In the year and a half that I've been the Executive Director of the Westport Writers' Workshop, I've tried to learn as much possible about what makes a successful literary event. Last night solidified that it's all about the people there: the writers reading or speaking, the attendees listening and discussing, the sponsors who make the evening possible, and the volunteers doing the invisible work behind the scenes. I'd like to extend a sincere thanks to our board members, our sponsors, and my colleagues at the Workshop, and to everyone who attended, donated an auction item, bid on an auction item, or just spread the word about the evening, for making last night so much fun and such a success raising funds for our our outreach programs. - Amanda

Whew, last week was a total blur…. From @sxsw in Austin, to Indiana for a keynote at the Elkhart Children’s Summit, and then off to LA for the Oscars! It was so special to be there for the friendship, the celebration, and for moments that truly fill your soul. It’s something I will never regret. It meant so much to send my bestie, @pagesandmore, off to the Oscars with love, as “Come See Me in the Good Light” was nominated for Best Documentary, and to share that moment at the watch party. We had a blast at the Oscars. The way I see it, EVERYONE’S A WINNER! I am forever grateful to our love-filled documentary family on “Come See Me in the Good Light”. What a ride…What a year! It was an exercise in being present… so proud of us for leaving it all behind!
