Dermatology is so competitive that many medical students do not even apply.
Those who do are expected to have top board scores, clinical honors, and research… some spend extra years just trying to qualify.
Now look at what makes this even bigger…
Only about 3% to 5% of dermatologists in the United States are Black.
Black women represent an even smaller portion of that number.
That means most people will go their whole life without seeing a doctor who understands both their scalp and their story.
Jordan does.
She knows what happens behind the chair.
She knows what happens in the clinic.
As a licensed Cosmetologist, Jordan is THE match.
This is not just A match.
This is a bridge between beauty and medical care.
This is someone’s daughter becoming the doctor her community has been waiting for.

Today, join us as we celebrate the Future of Black Women in Dermatology @pagingdryoung ♥️

Saying goodbye to Joycelyn, my intern of 2 1/2 years has not been easy but I remind myself this is not our final goodbye. Joycelyn, my other double heartbeat in the first cohort of my MD Gap Year Internship Program, has fulfilled her dream to become a physician assistant and has been accepted at one of the top 10 PA programs in the country - I am so proud of her. Joycelyn through her leadership has touched the lives of so many students that have shadowed (l->r) and done internships at my office and I am also proud of her maturity, selflessness, compassion and kindness in addition to her brilliance. Joycelyn, you taught me so much, how to be relevant and even how to dance, lol. I know you will continue to be a leader and be at the top of your class. Remember keep God first and He will continue to guide your every step. Congratulations! xoxo
