kinda chic ig 🫠

kinda chic to collect cities, languages, stories, rooms and a few questionable amounts of coffee along the way ☕️

…apparently this is what happens when curiosity becomes a career.

Three days at @paidsummit and my notes still don't make sense to anyone but me.

One line from a panel has stuck though.

The future doesn't show up finished.

It gets built in rooms like that one, by people arguing about pricing and what the work is actually worth.

This issue of the Edit goes through the whole thing with five hosts who sat in those rooms.

What they took from it, what they're still chewing on.

Comment EDIT and I'll send the link. It's in my bio too.

Receiving a Certificate of Recognition as an ambassador for Pan-African Interior and Intentional Design Summit (PAID Summit 2026) is truly an honour.

Looking back, I’m reminded that this was more than a summit. It was an intentional investment in the future of design, challenging us to think beyond aesthetics and recognize our role in shaping people, systems, and society.

Thank you to the entire @paidsummit team for the trust and recognition.

The replays are still available, and if you’re passionate about design, I’d genuinely recommend experiencing them yourself.

PAID Summit is a three-day Pan-African design gathering bringing together designers, architects, and cultural thinkers from across Africa and the diaspora.

The conversations were insightful, honest, and incredibly engaging… and the breakout Q&A session proved just how invested people are in the future of design on the continent. I left feeling inspired & honestly very hopeful about where African design is headed.

Grateful to have been part of the conversations shaping what comes next.

At the PAID Summit, the panel discussion and breakout sessions were my favourite parts. Maybe it's because I moderated some of the breakout rooms, and I got to ask questions.

I left with notes, questions, perspective shifts… and homework, apparently, lol. 😃

Big kudos to Ms. Osaru, the speakers, panelists, and the entire team. 🔥

What an incredible few days at the PAID Summit 2026! 🌍✨ As a proud partner of the summit, the AIDA Awards was honored to be part of these important conversations shaping the creative industry today and tomorrow.

Last week, the global design community came together for three inspiring days of conversation, collaboration, and powerful exchange at the summit. Hosted by Light Design Lab, the event proved just how impactful virtual gatherings can be — with an incredible response from designers, architects, educators, and creative leaders across Africa and the diaspora.

One of the highlights was hearing from our very own Astrid Hébert, Co-Founder & Director of 3C Group GmbH, during her talk on Global Positioning: Telling African Interior Stories, where she explored the importance of creating stronger global recognition for African design voices and creative excellence.

Thank you to everyone who joined, contributed, and shared their perspectives throughout the summit. The discussions sparked over these three days will continue far beyond the event itself. Until the next one!
