The hardest part of infertility wasn’t always the treatment. Often, it was the waiting.

After a year of trying to get pregnant, we received our infertility diagnosis in January 2023. And then we made the difficult decision to wait another year before moving forward with IVF so we could switch insurance and have access to fertility benefits that would help cover some of the cost.

So we waited.

For appointments. For test results. For something to change. We focused on our health and fertility and did what we could with what was within our control.

But we also kept living.

We traveled and spent time in nature. I completed my yoga teacher training. I became an ambassador with @TheBeautyBoost and found an incredible community of women. I started my health coach training through IIN.

And through all of it, infertility was always there in the background.

We were constantly being asked when we were going to start a family, while privately trying so hard to do exactly that. I felt incredibly isolated in an experience that so few people around me seemed to understand.

That year taught me that I could deeply want to become a mom while still allowing myself to live the life happening around me. To lean on community. To move my body. To take care of myself. And to focus my energy on the things I could control.

By early 2024, after another year of waiting, it was finally time to start IVF.

In February, I recorded the video at the end of this post as I was getting ready to take my first birth control pill and officially start the process.

Exactly one year later, to the day, I would become a mom.

I obviously didn’t know that then.

All I knew was that after more than two years of trying, hoping and waiting, we were finally starting.

This is the beginning of our IVF story, and a big part of why I’m so passionate about creating the (In)Fertility Circle.

If you or someone you know is navigating infertility in Cincinnati, we’re launching the (In)Fertility Circle this fall alongside @cincypostpartum.

DM me “fertility” and I’ll send you the link to join the notification list, or you can find the link in my bio. 🤍
