Today I was invited to meet with the director of @paint.base to discuss their full range of products supplied from their store in Hilsea, Portsmouth.

Having been a decorator for nearly 25 years, it’s easy to get stuck on using the same products and paint brands, without exploring what’s available on the market.

@paint.base supplies have given me some samples to try out on one of my next projects. They are the local stockist of @caparoluk and @tikkurila_uk.

I was so happy with the @caparoluk haftprimer, I switched over to using it about a year ago!

I’m excited to try out and give my honest opinion and feedback on more of their products on future jobs!

On the gun today is @caparoluk CapaTrend, supplied by the guys at @paint.base , going through my trusty @graco_contractor_club GX21 a machine I purchased from the one and only @spraydirect and one that’s earned its keep on plenty of jobs since. 🔫💨

There’s just something satisfying about watching a ceiling disappear under a fresh coat. 🤌

Another project completed with @caparoluk 🤝

On this one, we had a good opportunity to properly test the products in different applications — both sprayed and applied by roller. Ceilings, walls and woodwork — we tried both methods, and I was genuinely impressed with the results.

For the ceilings we used CapaSilan. One thing I really noticed is how well it settles as it dries. When you’re applying it, you can sometimes see the roller marks, but once it’s fully dry, they disappear and the finish becomes beautifully even and flat.

For the walls we used PremiumClean. This isn’t my first time using it — I already have clients who have been living with it on their walls for over a year, and so far I haven’t had a single complaint. It’s a very durable, washable finish and this is now the third project where we’ve used it.

For the woodwork we used Capaflow Eggshell and PU-Satin, testing both spray and roller application. Both gave us a really clean, smooth finish.

For preparation and adhesion we also used Caparol HaftPrimer — probably a product that doesn’t need much introduction. A very reliable primer and definitely one of my favourites.

I’ve used Caparol exterior products for a long time, but recently I’ve been using more and more of their interior range as well. After several projects in a row, I can say I’m genuinely impressed with the quality, application and finish.

For me, it’s always important to actually work with a product on real projects before recommending it — and these products have definitely earned their place in our kit. 👌

BEDROOM COMPLETED LAST WEEK!

This was my parents bedroom, a lot of prep and a lot of sanding! Very bold colours but it’s come out lovely!

All the paint I used was from @caparoluk

Ceiling and walls- Indeko plus. Peach medley.
Woodwork- Haft primer/capaflow Blood orange matt finish.

Back on a project where we previously completed the first floor, and now it’s time to transform the ground floor.

This area presented some real challenges. Uneven ceilings, damaged walls from previous electrical works, cracks throughout the timber, and detailed mouldings requiring careful preparation and attention.

With strong natural light flooding through the rear doors, every imperfection became visible. Simply painting wasn’t an option. The ceilings required extensive levelling before receiving @caparoluk finishes, while the walls needed full preparation ready for @benjaminmooreuk Scuff-X.

All timber defects were opened up and repaired using the @repair_care_international_uk Dry Flex system, ensuring a long-lasting repair rather than a temporary fix.

Protection is complete, the walls and ceilings have been levelled, and all repairs have now been carried out. The next stage is sanding, mist coating, and final preparation before we move on to the finishing coats next week.

A big thank you to @paint.base for the excellent service and prompt delivery of the Caparol materials for this project.

At GoldenHandsDeco, quality isn’t just about applying paint. It’s about creating the perfect foundation and giving every detail the attention it deserves.

EXTERIOR SEASON IN FULL SWING (Now the rain has stopped 🫣🤣)

Using @caparoluk products on this one, and the first time using the exterior primer (Optisilan TiefGrund) to seal the Render, Amazing product and sealed all the loose sandy render making it a solid base to go on with the Muresko!

Office transformation and what a transformation it was!

The colour really really gives this office a new lease of life! The colour is from the @lick range Green 02, Knocked into @caparoluk Amphibolin for extra durability being a high traffic area.
