Disturbing story with a feel good ending. We feel the love from the community especially because of @paint_beast_ygk 💗

The other night downtown Kingston was hit was a ton of vandalism affecting many properties. Yeah, it was on the news but they unfortunately didn’t mention anyone who was affected other than the city buildings.

So here’s the update for you and the full story. My business was vandalized.

We were closed for the holidays and on Dec 28 I got a DM from @kashco.ca - one of our vendors in store - that the store had been hit. I hadn’t heard the news yet, it actually hadn’t been broken yet.

I was in shock. I couldn’t even properly reply as you can see my message doesn’t even make sense. I drove down to the store to find the disgusting remarks that defaced our building. I’ve been in a frozen fog since but I knew it would be ok. I knew it was something we could take care of and I knew that it could be much worse.

Paint Beast immediately reached out and offered to help us and it’s taken care of not even 24 hours later. Maybe I’ll finally cry over this now that it’s over with. It hurts that someone would do this to a small local business that sometimes barely gets by. Retail is really hard and the holidays can be even harder for a small business.

This thoughtless act really makes us count our blessings.
I’ve gotten many comments from people who can’t believe this misogynistic act that was taken on our female owned business that I’ve built from the ground up.

The business we share the space with @thriftygirlhere has also built this on her own and it’s a rude awakening that someone in the community would do this. This is the reality of running a small business and it really does hurt. We never know what will happen next, we manage a lot as it is, and then this.

But what I’ve really learned is of the love in the community that carries on and truly fights back when times are tough.

Thank you to the people for showing up for us and showing us you care about us. It really means a lot. Thank you.
