⚡ Deadline Approaching! April 12! ⚡

This residency was dreamt up years ago out of both a desire to give back to the artist community that I love being a part of so much &&& the frustration of feeling consistently taken advantage of ($$$) by the art world.

I decided that I was going to give a FREE week of peaceful serenity in the forest of upstate NY for artists needing to get into a particular mindset to make their work. And I've been doing it every year since 2022. Because it's fun to give back in this way.

Upstate Artist Camp is an artist and herbalism residency on Heather Palecek’s private 50 acre property in the Eastern Adirondacks, NY (Washington County, NY on the VT border). This residency is open to all artists of all backgrounds in any point of their career. But it's also a very particular type of experience that isn't everyone's cup of tea. If you love camping and being immersed in nature and are able to make artwork outdoors without electricity, it might just be right for YOU.

Are you an artist/writer/musician/herbalist who is:

>>Proficient at camping + loves the outdoors

>>Self-motivated and can manage their own time

>>Works in a medium that can be done outdoors and without electricity

>>Is interested in a week long vacation to connect with nature, other artists, and make work outdoors

If so... Check it the full details on the website, linked in my bio!

2026 DATES: July 31-Aug 8

DEADLINE TO APPLY: APRIL 12, 2026

If you have any questions, feel free to DM or email me!

🌲☀️ This is my favorite week of the year and I can't wait to see who will join us in 2026! 💛

Please share this post with your artist/musician/herbalism friends!

Only 1 month left to apply for my "Upstate Artist Camp" residency in NY state. ☀️✨ Applications due April 15!

I've posted about this already, so I'll keep the description short this time... Swipe through this carousel to see the location and a glimpse at what it looks like to be there as an artist. For more info visit the website!

☀️ Coffee on the peninsula watching the birds
☀️ Nightly bonfires and milkyway views
☀️ Days spent making art wherever you want: Sometimes that means you're taking pinhole selfies while floating in the creek, and sometimes that means you're at the picnic table weaving. Maybe you're wittling wood in a camp chair in the creek, or maybe you're plein air painting at an overlook in the forest.
☀️ Camping and living peacefully on 50 acres of serene wooded wetlands with a few other artists for a week
☀️ Reading in a hammock
☀️Meaningful conversations with new friends
☀️ Oh, and it's a gift! Totally free and no expectations. 💕

Share with your artist, writer, musician friends! ✨

The first few days of our week long residency in the Adirondacks w/ @heather.palecek.art 🌿💚🌿

Anyhotype, lumen printing, pinhole, embroidery, weaving, cyanotype, stone & wood carving, writing & reading, photography, watercolor. The best are our weird night time red light adventures into the marsh to capture photogram & watergrams. I am feeling so grateful for this opportunity. To spend time amongst this pristine nature with such amazing, talented, wonderfully silly and funny humans. Thank you Heather for opening your land and your magical space for us to create art & magic in. We have til the end of the week here. Let the wacky creative times continue! 💚

"Living in an environment affected by the human presence, I have come to appreciate the stubborn and persistent flare of Mother Nature in our city spaces. She will grow as she pleases! I find inspiration from the wild persistent plants that insist on sharing our spaces. They often become a metaphor and symbol when I find myself needing one."

Such an awesome night taking one more trip on the mothership! Sad it’ll be the last time seeing George Clinton live, but it was a send off worthy is such a legend. Happy to see dedications to Dr. John by Ivan Neville and Galactic. Forgot just how much fun Fishbone is live. Well worth the late nights!
