POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

When you work full time and then go work on your 3x great grandfather’s mansion at night. Sometimes I spend my nights after work preparing the space for visitors. It’s a promise I’ve made to my mother and family to show what legacy means. I’ve dedicated the last 8 years of my life to this project. Legacy sounds refined and fancy but for me it’s the opposite. Why am I not dressed up or have a fresh set of makeup up on? I would sweat it off or get paint in my hair or dust under my finger nails. This type of work is not for the person who wants instant gratification. It’s for the people who believe in consistency and listening to your instincts to guide you. Collaboration with people who care about what the past has gifted us. People who love stories that have been shared for generations. When we stop listening to our elders and instead look at influencers we are not valuing ourselves and our roots. I spent months planning out the day for our annual BBQ fundraiser. Meetings with the board, getting materials, cleaning, painting, and hoping the community sees what we are doing. All I can say is my heart is in it and I will continue to do my best to rehabilitate this space with the help of the board, family, friends, and the community. Thank you to everyone who came to the BBQ or has supported the LPVHS.
1 Video of the southwest bedroom. Including the Zenobia Yorba and Thomas Rowland bed set donated to the LPVHS by the Yorba family. My dog Mochi is supervising my work.
2 Three pictures of the family historian Leonore Rowland.
3 The Yorba bed approximately from the 1860’s. Twelve children were conceived in the bed.
4 Mourning wear L mourning cape from the Rowland family archives. R Mourning dress and ornate mourning cape from the Yorba family.
Side note-the quilt…it was made by my best friend’s mother Carol. She passed away a few years ago but it was a way to honor her and remember her as she was an amazing woman too!
The pictures aren’t top notch but hopefully it gives you a sense for Hija Del Pais=Women of the Country

I can’t thank my dear friend and amazing “legendary” Director of Transportation for Orange Unified who hired me almost 30 years ago Ms. Pam McDonald @pamriver enough. She is the hostess with the mostest. Pam hosted my first “Meet n Greet” yesterday afternoon. Thank you to her BFF Ellen Johnson and Pam’s mom Millie. Thank you to all who came to support me and Ana Page and Sara Pelly. Right after we headed to Dr. Stephen Glass’ kick off for his campaign! It was an amazing day with so many amazing parents in OUSD. 🚌🧡🍊
