POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

time is coming to say bye to the JOAT, and onto the next … but not without a couple thank you notes.

J.O.A.T.
I wrote and directed a short film last year (whole other story but fkn hell I will get it made), and when I couldn’t find an editor I was so frustrated. Until one day, I see @panditjeeee put up a story saying he’s looking for new artist with new songs. Lemme be clear - I know almost nothing about making music. BUT I do have decent rhythm, knowledge of some basic chords, a love for wordplay - especially dumb puns

I wrote a couple songs and sent them to Sid bhai, he was working with some really incredible musicians at the time. When we finally got to meet, he was expecting to hear my one song, I showed up with 4. The first couple songs I wrote were interesting, one was a rock song, one was more folksy, and ONE rap.

I cannot tell you how fun it was for us to realize this is something we could, and wanted to do. So we chucked out all the songs I’d written so far and decided - we’re gonna make a lil rap/hip hop EP together.

And that was it. Through happenstance I met @rhititiwari at a friend’s place and we instantly connected. I loved her voice and she was kind enough to lend her time and energy for this.

Sid bhai recommended we use @samirdharap9 and even though I’ve been doing this for a VERY short period of time, I don’t think there are many recording engineers than him.

When Sid bhai got married this year (woot woot) and got a lil busy, I found @puia.in whose beats fit what id written for “I’m not a rapper” like a glove. Truly insane producer (in the best of ways)

And now that my all-in-one trump card was occupied, also had to find a new mix-master engineer which is how @ajinkyadhapare , one of the coolest cats in Bombay hands down

I’m a business graduate who left that go to train in NYC to be an actor. Lived my dream for a year before the government booted me, came to Mumbai, did some ads and decent gigs, didn’t feel satisfied enough. Started writing music for some reason, and by god’s grace, I think for the first time in almost 10 years - I’m feeling good.

@panditjeeee @rhititiwari @samirdharap9 @ajinkyadhapare @puia.in thank you all ♥️

(Underrated songs, indie artists, heartbreak music, too good to gatekeep)
