This is what our community looks like. We are all genders and all cultures. We are kids, families, and everyone together. We are skateboarders and non skaters alike.
We are creating a new innovative way for how skateparks are designed and used: introducing the SkateGARDEN. gardening, environmental education, art and culture, sustainability and activism. Most of all we believe in nurturing our green spaces and caring for our parks.
The Brooklyn skate Garden is more than skateboarding. We believe in having safe spaces for everyone, especially the kids. We believe that a skatepark /GARDEN needs to be first and foremost in nature, and in green inspiring environment. (Not under a highway, not in an industrial zone, not in a parking lot or not next to a garbage dump. These are all traditional spaces where skateparks are usually asked to be built)
Our new home at Mount Prospect Park spearheaded by the NYC parks dept and an intuitive from the mayors office will enhance this park and make it greener and more beautiful than it has ever been before. With newly planted trees, gardens and sustainably designed landscaped areas. The park will continue to be a haven for dogs, kids, families and continue to be a place with passive areas for relaxation. Our city parks need to be accessible to everyone, and the BSG offers a new forward thinking model which blends eco- sustainability with active recreation. We believe that a skate park should not just be concrete, but an inspiring environment that includes gardens, trees, picnicking, and a place where everyone can come together to enjoy our parks more fully.
We couldn’t have gotten here without the the help from our BSG volunteers, and everyone who showed up at our park clean ups, gardening and art and mural making events and our skate sessions. We can’t thank you all enough for all your support in believing in our ethos and our mission. Stay tuned for all the info about, how you can get involved in all the next community engagement meetings that will be happening before we finalize the design and building of the BSG at Mount Prospect Park.

As we close out 2023, we at the Pablo Ramirez Foundation want to thank everyone for all your support.💚

Feb 2023 brought a special celebration for Pablo’s 30th birthday in SF, with a limited edition of 100 boards and t-shirt collab with @ftc_skateboarding. We had a release party on Friday night at FTC and a skate jam on Saturday at Waller St. skate park. It was amazing to share space with so many friends.

Through the events we were able to provide a scholarship fund in Pablo’s honor for the @sfskateclub These funds specifically allowed students to attend summer camp for free and their after school program that Pablo always loved to help volunteer at. 💚

March 2023 brought the 1st ever NYC Skate Forum hosted by the @nycparks
Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Marty Maher was joined by our local skate industry friends and community members to talk about the future of Brooklyn skateboarding including how @mammasplifff and @pabloramirezfoundation are advocating to seek funding for the @brooklynskategarden🔥

Thanks to your generosity, we’ve been sending skaters to the YMCA Sequoia Skate Camp @yskatecamp in honor of pro skater @zanetimpson, one of Pablo’s best friends.
