Can we please just take a moment to appreciate all these stills??! 😍🎨 We grew up imagining these places from bedtime stories or seeing them in person when we visited the #Philippines. Now we get to see them on the big screen. 🥹

Just in time for spooky season, step into Nakali: glowing forests where the kapre live, shimmering waters ruled by the kataw, and skies where the genuinely terrifying Manananggal flies (Manang, please! We’re terrified fr). There’s the duwende (NOT cute 😤), the batibat, the Datu and his tree giants, the tiyanak, a weredog (RAW ASF), and so many of the folk stories we heard before bedtime from our elders. 👻

This movie is truly a love letter and homage to our diverse Filipina/x/o American diaspora and representation around the globe. Our folklore and storytelling have always been this vivid. It was just waiting for artists like @janimatedultd, @joel.crawford.art, and their team to bring it to life. Concept art. Color scripts. #visdev. #environmentaldesign. Character design. The team behind @forgottenislandmovie poured thousands of hours of craft and genuine artistry into building this magical world we’d love for you to experience, too. 🎨

Our stories survive because a lola told them at the kitchen table. Because we chismised with our cousins. Because someone wrote down a coveted family recipe (or hid it somewhere 👀). Because we laughed so hard we couldn’t breathe, karaoke’d next to the best plates of food, with someone yelling “picture picture!!” and someone took the time to document it all. When we forget our family histories, we lose more than folklore; we lose the map of who we are, how we got here, and how we find home.

We’re so proud to be Forgotten Island’s NYC community partner, and this film is truly part of Fil-Am History! It’s not too late to go see it.

Emotional Support Animals @eclipsafilms and Incubation @incubation_film - film BOTH had 2 showings this past weekend at @silvervoxfest. So excited that the premiere for ESA also took home the award for audience Choice Short!

Bonnaroooooooooooo
-these are my people I go out into the woods/fields/FARM, I dress however I want, hooting/hollering/prancing around. I feel seen and understood by these people.
-bonnaroo being a multi genre fest and all ages makes it so every type of human comes together to connect over music and dancing. I’m in love
- @paolodeguz a legendary friend who we have gone through war and back together so laughing around with you and spending 8 days straight together was new and fun.
-music was amazing and so intimate, I don’t know if it’s cuz the event didn’t have capacity but I had so much space to dance and still get close to the stage. Loved that.
- learned I have a internal clock that once it goes past 3:30 if I’m tired I should probably sleep. There will be more sunset sets.
-each camping fest I’m like I need this and that. Thank you to all the neighbors that helped out around us.
-NASHVILLE the epitome of America. Everyone is either hustling, partying, praising god, trying to escape, and/or trying to make something for themselves. All while we got country tunes about love,money, and living like a cowboy. Loved that city I’ll be back.
AND the FARM, I must be back. Best fest I’ve been to.
