Thursday…day four of my half term diaries and a fun one today!

Early start meant reading with the sunrise…the perfect time to get lost in Mermaid of the Black Conch.

A surprise trip to Legoland for our boys, thanks to @skytv We all had a great day, and some of my books even enjoyed the trip; Adult Assembly Required and the Fixer Upper matched too perfectly!

Home to relax with a book and glass of wine…it’s my turn today on the booktour for In Safe Hands by @authorivyngeow It’s my second book of Ivy’s and I’ve loved both of them. In Safe Hands is the perfect title for this one as there are so many elements of people not knowing who they can and can’t turn too. We start with Genevieve as she returns to London after running a successful sommelier business in Singapore with her son, Jasper they reunite with her Father in somewhat mysterious circumstances. I cannot give too much away about the storyline as the interlinking is so well done that I don’t want to give anything at all away! It’s a story about how we all just want to feel loved and wanted and how some will go further (much further) than others to get it. I loved all the characters, even the ones you aren’t supposed to as they were all so different and yet also not. The wine choice played on my mind here, as a sommelier Genevieve knew what she was talking about- it needed to be something impressive and I found it in this Riesling from @redheadswine I love everything these wines stand for and could see Genevieve recommending them in the Peony had the story gone in another direction. This one is the Riesling, a Barossa from Australia, a tick for our expert. I chose it as the label says from time to time a wine is made from a small batch of special grapes and they may never make the same wine again….it gave me the vibe that we need to appreciate each moment and each connection for exactly what it is; something which each of the characters learn something about. It also says it’s a stellar match to spicy foods…read it to make that connection make sense.

What would you like to see in Lego form?

Saturday Spotlight 🔦

Taking today to show some appreciation to an author I love ❤️

R.F. Kuang

I haven’t read The Poppy War series yet, but I’m hoping to get to them in the new year. Babel in particular is a masterpiece. ❤️

Tagging a few bookstagrammers to prompt you to share the work of an author you love.

My sister is throwing a party today celebrating the birthday of our youngest (my 2 year old niece) and the oldest (my 89 year old yiayia) women in our family. ❤️🎉

What are your Saturday plans?
