It’s officially fall and to paraphrase Colin Nissan, you’re either ready to reap this freaky ass harvest or you’re not. Kick down the door to this weekend early with these picks: 🛁 Ideas of Grandeur with Imani Lee Williams and Rayne at the helm is ongoing until the 26th at Plays and Players Skinner Studio. 👶🏼 it isn’t too late to catch The Adoption Game, either, running until the 27th at Asian Arts Initiative. 🔪 Murdered Darlings from Paper Doll Ensemble, one night only, September 26th, Deep End Studios. 👀 Dolls, from the EgoPo Classic Theatre closes on September 27th at the Franklin Inn Club.

It's officially Philly Fringe!! There is so much to see, and we wanted to highlight the GCC clients in this year's festival: Cannonball September 8–27 Asian Arts Initiative and Icebox Project Space The largest hub of the festival packed with 90+ adventurous independent performance from around the country and the world. cannonballfestival.org SPORTS! | Obvious Agency September 26 The Lawn at uCity Square A one-day-only theatrical sports extravaganza where two teams battle it out in a live, ridiculous, everything-on-the-line competition. phillyfringe.org/events/sports/ The 40-Year-Old Ballerino | Chris Davis September 12 - 26 Studio 34, 4522 Baltimore Ave. Chris Davis takes on ballet, aging, and the pursuit of an unlikely dream in this hilarious and deeply personal solo show. phillyfringe.org/events/the-40-year-old-ballerino/ Murdered Darlings | Paper Doll Ensemble September 26 at 7 PM Deep End Studios A one-night-only resurrection of the scenes, experiments, and beloved ideas Paper Doll Ensemble has killed over nine years of making devised theatre. paperdollensemble.com I also had the pleasure of consulting for: The Lemonade Stand September 8–27 Plays & Players Skinner Studio, 1714 Delancey St. A Fringe hub presenting a rotating lineup of new work and emerging artists. Baggage From BaghDAD: Becoming My Father’s Daughter | Valerie David September 17–20 Asian Arts Initiative, Third Floor, 1219 Vine St. An award-winning autobiographical solo show about David’s relationship with her father, whose Jewish family fled Baghdad during the 1941 Farhud pogrom. Mechanicians are ALL OVER Fringe! Members of the Applied Mechanics family are making, directing, performing, and generally causing trouble across this year’s Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Plus, we’ve got a few recommendations from friends whose work we think you should see. Here’s your Applied Mechanics Fringe guide in chronological order: TUZLUK izzy sazak, directed by MK Tuomanen Sept. 8–22 | Asian Arts Initiative A funny, heartfelt ride through mixed identity, memory, geopolitics, family, and fantasy. Dickie Dickie Dicky Donnie BETTY (MK Tuomanen, Shelby Richardson & Paul Kruse) Sept. 9–20 | Asian Arts Initiative A surreal, vulnerable mix of clown and drag inspired by the very real and very strange history of “Practice Babies.” Private Dick: A Genoir The Freaks / Kel Fleming Sept. 10–12 | NoMaster Studio A sexy, seedy comedy-clown noir following hard-drinking private investigator Richard Dickinson. The 40-Year-Old Ballerino Chris Davis, directed by MK Tuomanen Sept. 12–26 | Studio 34 At 40, Chris Davis takes up ballet in a comedy about addiction, aging, change, and starting something new. My Allowance Thomas Choinacky, directed by Becky Wright Sept. 12–27 | Queen Memorial Building Beanie Babies, ’90s ephemera, family artifacts, and the things we save, remember, and keep hidden. Clowncuterie 2026 Featuring Brett Ashley Robinson as PATRICIA Sept. 15 at 8:30 PM | Pig Iron Theatre Company A variety show of bite-sized bits from across Philly clown, drag, burlesque, alt-comedy, and performance art. Murdered Darlings Paper Doll Ensemble ft. Grayce Carson Sept. 26 | Deep End Studios Nearly a decade of abandoned experiments, delightful disasters, and theatrical ideas resurrected for one night only. SPORTS! Obvious Agency Sept. 26 | The Lawn @ uCity Square A professionally performed, athletically amateur sports extravaganza exploring competition, identity, belonging, and what happens when queer artists take the field. There is SO MUCH to see. HAPPY FRINGING! Find tickets + more info at phillyfringe.org.

Nothing says Philly like a race to 2nd Place, right? The 2nd Place Race is exactly what it sounds like — an annual city-wide hunt where the goal is to collect JUST enough points to finish in second place. Puzzles, challenges, games, trading, tricking — and absolutely no running required. Winning is overrated anyway. Presented by @paperdollensemble, this is the kind of Only In Philadelphia event that makes us deeply proud to live here. Strategic mediocrity has never looked so good. Grab your $26.50 tickets at the link in bio before someone beats you to it — or, you know, almost beats you to it. #wwwphilly #phillyevents #onlyinphilly #phillyweekend
