POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It’s wonderful when you start to get reviews for your novel.

Up until now only you and a very few others have read it. Now it’s being read by the first arc readers ahead of publication of 28th October 2026. A tense time, but exciting.

If you’d like an arc copy, Flesh Endures by Sue C. Bentley is on NetGalley now. Also available to pre-order as ebook or paperback- direct from Troubador publishing online bookshop, from Waterstones and all high st bookshops, and the big A in the sky.

Any reviews much appreciated on Goodreads, other readers platforms, social media. Be sure to copy me in?

Thanks in advance. It means a great deal 🖤🖤🖤

Yesterday got together with fellow authors Sue Bentley Author, Sue Upton Author, Thea Bennett and Kirsty Bentley. Writing by it’s nature is a rather solitary occupation and it’s so valuable to be able to spend time with other authors who understand the oddities, joys and challenges of this career path. It was also such fun and I’m very much looking forward to my next meeting with these lovely and brilliant women.

Lovely things to inspire me!

I found this photograph in a box of vintage postcards and oddments in an antique shop. And just had to have it.

The young Victorian woman looks determined and thoughtful. She definitely needs to be a character in my next book, which is at the early planning.stage. She hasn’t got a name as yet. All suggestions welcome!

I tracked down the photographers to circa 1888, when they had just moved into new premises in Hull - the address which is on the photograph. The other items I collected over the years whenever they caught my eye.

The title of this new novel in progress will be The Plumage. It’s another Victorian Gothic crime, with a touch of the supernatural, and a stand-alone. The Plumage will follow The Making- which is currently at the editing, and fine-tuning stage. No publication date as yet.

Any thoughts about the young woman in the photo? I’d be interested to hear them.

I used to say that you write the sort of books you read. But I might have to change my mind about that.

What do you think fellow authors, writers and bookish types? 📚

Recent book haul. From Independent Bookshop, Charity shop, library sale.

Enough to keep me busy for a while. A couple of them will be useful for research, too. Win, win.

Let’s hear it for secondhand books! Who’s your go-to bookseller if you’re after a great value preloved bargain?
.
.
I’m a big fan of charity shops, but for an online spree I love World of Books.🤗I like the discounts they do for multiple purchases and their service is excellent.
I got a copy of Stephen King’s Holly, and knew that I had to read the series that gave life to her first (I hate reading books out of order!). I also picked up Christina Dalcher’s back catalogue having listened to an audio of The Sentence last year.
.
.
I’ve tagged a few people to share their #SecondHandBookStack - but no pressure - feel free to join in if you’d like to and don’t forget to tag me so I can give your picture some love!🥰
.
.
Second hand or shiny and new?
