“This is what Book Drive Africa means when it says, ‘Give a child a book, show them the world.’”

Grateful to @moniperazim for the clips and giving me the chance to watch myself experience BDA.

BDA 2.0 was a success. Looking forward to the Ibadan book drive later this year and then 3.0! Eternally grateful for the love and support we keep receiving.

Thank you!

God is good.

Give a Child a Book. Show Them the World.

That has always been the vision of Book Drive Africa.

Book Drive Africa 2.0 was more than a series of outreaches. It was a reminder of why we started and of the future we are committed to building, one child, one book, one story at a time.

We believe every book placed in a child’s hands has the power to spark something lasting: a new dream, a bigger imagination, the confidence to ask questions, or the courage to believe that their story matters. Long after the applause fades and the volunteers head home, we hope those moments continue to ripple through their lives, shaping the way they see themselves and the world around them.

At the heart of every outreach is one simple message: you are seen, you are valued, and you were intentionally considered.

Book Drive Africa has never been just about giving children books. It is about giving them possibility. It is about opening worlds they may never have imagined and reminding every child we meet that they matter, that they belong, and that their dreams are valid.

During Book Drive Africa 2.0 in Abuja, our Team Lead, Emmanuel Osi, had a conversation with the leadership of Junior Secondary School, Kurudu, about our vision, mission, and the work we’re doing to make books, reading, and learning more accessible to children.

We are incredibly grateful to Junior Secondary School, Kurudu, for opening their doors and hearts to us, and for welcoming us into their community. Thank you for partnering with us to inspire a new generation of readers, dreamers, and leaders.

Bottles

Bring me to a place where pain doesn’t matter,
Where I can drown out my sorrows with glee.
One glass! Two glasses! Three incoming!

Take me to a place where my sorrows don’t exist,
That fairy tale place where I’m not in shackles.
One bottle! Two bottles! Well, maybe three.

Give me a tour to Utopia, no, maybe Elysium,
That place that only exists in my head, lol;
Where I don’t have to run away from my issues.

How about a visit to Valhalla? Yea, that place,
Where I can get bloated and filled with ambrosia,
One, two, or maybe three tankards of good stuff.

Take me there, that imaginary place,
Where I can escape from my tears and pains,
Take me there, dear bottles of Vodka.

Bags of sorry pebbles,
stripes of fear and wrath,
bitten limbs and a ton of self reproach.

Yet, probably, one day– on a day like this,
I'll find the flair to wri(gh)te away -
the nukes I took into the cranny of regret…

Flurry of untaken roads,
Eyes full of unshed tears.
A heart filled with scars -
And numerous what ifs
But maybe one day - a typical day,
I’ll find the courage to pen down
The anger I took into the embrace of darkness
