Geronimo Bad ass of the week
COL Morton N. Katz
15MAY1919-03FEB2025
Mr. Katz was born and raised in Hartford, CT. In 1935 he graduated from Weaver High School; and then went in to earn his Bachelor’s from UCONN and his Master’s from Iowa State. He then commissioned in the Army originally as an Intelligence Officer, and was assigned to the 509th PIR. While with the 509th he would go on to be a Platoon Leader, and earn his CIB. He participated with the 509th in Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Anzio, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. And after the 509th was disbanded, he found himself assigned to the 82nd. After his 4 years on active duty, he transferred to the reserves where he would serve a total of 32 years and retire as a Colonel. After WWII he went back to school and earned his Doctorate at UCONN Law and opened his own practice, serving anyone in need of a lawyer until he was 103. He served as a Justice of the Peace and Special Public Defender until age 100. Mr. Katz participated in every Memorial Day celebration in his town; dressed in full uniform, standing firmly at attention and rendering a crisp salute until he died at 104. He was known as an upstanding member of the community, a loving husband and father, and a dedicated Paratrooper.

A little throw back from last Saturday getting to compete in a practical rifle match. We had a ton of fun and made some new friends along the way. Big thanks to @veracitybuilt for getting us out there! We will be back for more!

It's been a lot of ups and downs, but it's incredible to see how far things have come since October 2022. What originally started with me just trying to find out what happened to my Junior Marines that were deployed in 2021 has evolved so far beyond that, and for good reason. I've learned so much, not only about the Withdrawal but about humanity. It's only been possible thanks to the willingness and generosity of the veterans and their families who experienced that tumultuous time first hand. This work continues because of them, and it continues for them. There are still so many stories to tell.

That’s a wrap for @thetacticalgames at @thesawmilltc 2025!

I started this TTG journey last June at Maxton, NC—and somehow found myself on the podium at Nationals in November. Since then, it’s been a whirlwind, and I haven’t looked back.

What’s made this experience truly unforgettable isn’t just the competition—it’s the people. From first-time competitors to the top-tier athletes in this sport, the TTG community has been incredibly welcoming to @jackijunewolfe and me. We’ve met so many amazing people and built friendships that go far beyond the podium.

To everyone who took a moment this weekend to say hello, offer encouragement, or just share a laugh—thank you. (@ortacusa @barbellpenguin @iamjose_s @kfactor85 @lazylabacres @dsquaredaddy10 @todd_thompson.sr @woddoc @immacodycooper @paratrooperpapyrus @marlana_fraser @mancampmartin @lynnea_davis—and so many more). You all are what make this sport special.

A massive shoutout to the volunteers—you braved the rain, mud, and long hours with smiles on your faces, and it didn’t go unnoticed. Your dedication makes this sport possible.

And to the TTG staff—thank you for all the hard work behind the scenes. You sacrifice your time, travel across the country, and pour everything into these events so the rest of us can show up and have a good time. That means more than I can say.
