Some birthdays are celebrated.

Some are earned.

I’ll never forget one that fell on 22nd May.

Less than 24 hours after booking a flight, I landed just after midnight with one mission: help a client whose vessel delay had become a crisis.

Somewhere between airports, phone calls and emergency meetings, I completely forgot it was my birthday.

Then my team surprised me with a cake.

For a few precious minutes, the pressure disappeared. We laughed, celebrated and reminded ourselves that no one builds anything worthwhile alone.

As we cut the cake, my phone rang.

“The vessel is moving again.”

The crisis was over.

In that moment, the cake tasted different.

Because the greatest birthday gift wasn’t the celebration.

It was knowing we delivered when it mattered most.

To everyone who remembered, called, sent a message, prayed for me and celebrated with me, thank you. You turned one of the busiest birthdays of my life into one I’ll never forget.

Every time 22nd May comes around, I’m reminded that purpose will always outlive celebration.

The mission continues.
