the last of my triptych of langauge poems that i’m elated @parenthesesreview have published
this poems address the privilege I as a white man living in Taiwan have in my struggles to try and learn just enough of this language to shop at the local market, while in my native Denmark, not mastering our language will often be used as prof that your not intelligent, especially if you’re not white

The second poem in the triptych generously published by @parenthesesreview is reflecting on the similarities between learning to speak in a way that is accepted by the neurotypical system and learning Mandarin. Both languages operate on very different structures than my Autie-speak.

Visual Description:
A video of me, a white male with municipal blond curly hair, almost as a halo around my head. I’m wearing a burgundy t-shirt, sitting in front of some house plants, while the green of a tree top is visible through the window. I’m reading my poem, switching between looking down and into the camera.

reading my poem: within my Autistic language. Published alongside two other poems by the gorgeous @parenthesesreview see their website for all three poems with a short introduction to each.

And a thanks to KR Moorhead @accidental.collage for introducing me to the term Galaxy Brain.

Visual description: me, a white male with fuzzy municipal blond fuzzy hair standing in a black shirt in front of a round mirror reading my poem; trying to look into the camera. The room is a beige tint from the light of a big round paper lamp visible in the mirror in front of a folding wood and glass door. Midway through and at the end, the poem appears as black text on a white background, showing how the text is in two curved blocks, partly overlapping. The overlap allows for the two readings; the first reading is block by block, the second is line by line.
