Un petit hommage à ce lieu où je retrouve le Berlin-Ouest que j’aime.

Eine kleine Hommage an den Ort, an dem sich mein West-Berlin noch so anfühlt, wie ich es liebe.

One night at the Paris Bar.

Some places are more than a restaurant. At the Paris Bar on Kantstrasse the walls belong to the friends, and some of them once paid their bills in paintings. On good nights the friends sit right beneath their work.

Michel Würthle held the room together for decades. Bruno Brunnet danced with a napkin. Maxime Ballesteros laughed in gold. And at some point a glass fell and the whole night laughed with it.

I was in the middle of it. Real people, a real night, nothing but flash.

In memory of Michel Würthle.

Portrait and flash photography by Christoph Neumann, Berlin.

Sixteen years without Christoph Schlingensief. And so many reasons to miss him.
“Es ist nicht mehr mein Problem, macht eure Scheiße alleine”, opening this week at @gropiusbau, brings his work to Berlin following its presentation at @mak_vienna in collaboration with @wienerfestwochen.
Curated by Raphael Gygax and @ainolaberenz, the exhibition makes his absence painfully palpable. So much of what Schlingensief exposed – and warned us about – has become part of our everyday political reality. Yet his work still refuses to let us grow accustomed to it. How badly we could use his voice today - someone willing to unsettle our certainties and ask the questions we would rather avoid.
Congratulations and thanks to @almeidapees and the @berlinerfestspiele, @jennyschlenzka, and their Vienna partners @lillihollein and @milorau4 for making this project possible (and thanks for treating us, @diandradonecker and @ririsiebies). Unfortunately, the timing could hardly be more right …
